just curious.. anyone receive an android system update recently?

i'm only asking because the install crashed my phone to the point where i can't use it.
when i turn my phone on, the BIOS reads:
bootloader
DO.11
Err:A5, 70, 00, 00, 23

Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

THAT IS IT!!! >:(

when the install was at 80%, an orange exclamation point appeared above the Droid guy and my phone turned off by itself. when i turned it back on, this crap comes up.

Same thing happened to my phone... Battery, sim card and memory card reinstall has no effect.... Taking to Verizon for service... I also have an iPhone 4s pretty bullet proof...

@stacy_w: What phone is this in reference to: Model, Make, Etc. we can go further into it if you provide us with a little more Info Let us know what build is on the phone say like 2.3.4 something like that if you can. All this can help us to help you.. B33 :smileyhappy:

I am having an issue with a Droid Global 2. Update I believe is 4.5.629.A956.Verizon.en.US. Or whatever Verizon just released... Would like to give the build on the phone but the phone is bricked in the reboot state waiting to be programmed so I cannot access the current build on the phone. Throwing the above errors

I applied this update to my Droid X yesterday. Totally lost the bootloader! I went to my local Verizon store and they had no clue how to even try and reset the phone! Their answer was order a "gently used" phone to replace my current phone that is in perfect condition! So I came home quite upset and my husband searched the net while I called Tech Support. I spoke with Maria who was very nice and helpful. They were just becomming aware of the issue and suggested I take my phone to a Verizon Authorized Flash Center, which by the way WAS where I had taken it to begin with. I called them and explained wat Maria had said about flashing my phone and they had NO IDEA how to flash my phone, none, zippo! Told me no use to bring it in because they could NOT flash it. So my husband found directions out there in cyber land, flashed my phone and it works now as long as I DO NOT APPLY the 621 update that came out yesterday according to my phone.

So flashing will fix the bootloader problems. We activated the phone, etc here without the wonderful help of my clueless local store and it is working now. Verizon you need to pull this update NOW!

i have the same phone as jfruggieri and i updated with the same update mentioned.

When going through an update, you need to let it finish. The phone may turn itself off and on a couple times during the update process. If you interrupt this, things may not install properly.

Or, it could just be a bad update. I haven't seen any reports of it on the two websites I follow though, and they are pretty on top of these things.

does flashing your phone reformat your phone??? i'm irritated that i might have to lose all of my pics/videos from this stupid "update".

thanks, but like i had said, it stopped at 80%, turned off on its own, and i had to manually turn it back on myself.

since i had not done anything to interrupt this process, i'm just going to assume that it is a bad update since multiple people are having the same issues.

Yes it wipes it back to factory. I have a storage card on mine so I didn't lose any photos, etc. Just lost all text messages which was no biggie.

I didn't interrupt my install. According to Verizon, the reports they had were just like mine. The install started and around 75-80% complete there is a large yellow exclamation point on your screen, the phone reboots and you lose the bootloader. Taking the battery out did nothing because it can't boot. A flash is the only fix or replace the phone and I really didn't want to, even though I have insurance. I take care of my phone and who knows what condition the replacement would be in or what issues the phone had previously. I like having the insurance in case my phone goes swimming or falls under a moving car. Other than that, I really don't want a replacement just because they had a bad release. Just glad it's working now.

I would suggest if you haven't called Tech Support, do so. That way they have documented calls about this issue, not just forum complaints. They can also direct you to the nearest flash facility and hopeuflly your facility will know how to flash your phone! :smileyhappy:

New issue is how in the world do you stop it from updating? I had every update allow turned off yet it downloaded it again and keeps complaing about installing the update every two hours...ugh...

Okay here is the story so far My wife took her the phone into Verizon and of course they were useless. They told her the phone is out of warranty and blal bla bla 20 bucks to upgrade. I am sure they will capture you into another 2 year plan. They also said it was Motorola's problem even though the carriers are supposed to approve the software release for ota installs. I called motorola service and after several minutes of menu selections I tried to connect to an agent and the then got hung up on... I figure I have an out of warranty bricked phone so I found this site instructions to root/ flash the rom.

Message was edited by: Joe Ruggieri Here is what I had to do following the link I gave: download all the files: flash rom back to factory settinging from file VRZ_A956_2_4_33_1FF_01 using the program RSDLite5.4.4 I actually found on the motorola site aan updated USB driver to connect the device to with the USB cable. Here is the link I also included this file http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=bda09ec8009a0210VgnVCM1000008806b00aRCRD Once the phone was back to factory original I charged the battery completely and did two updated making sure the phone was not connected to the USB cable. All software updated and the phone is working...Thanks Verizon for the complete lack of support!!! I hope this helps anyone else who has issues updating the Android software.

The 4.5.629 Droid 2 Global update, and the 4.5.621 Droid X update (and doubtless others that are in progress) are "hardened" against phone modifications. On the Motorola forums, the claim is that the type of error you are seeing is due to the phone being previously rooted or ROMd and not cleaned up prior to install. Only you can know if that is really your case! If the update has not fully installed, there are solutions mentioned on other websites, of how to return to an earlier version. Note if the update HAS fully installed, part of the hardening prevents any way of returning to earlier versions of the system.

Well I can say with 200000% certainty my phone was not rooted or altered in any way. The phone was set up by my local Verizon store when I purchased it a few months ago and I have not done anythng to the phone. The only thing I installed is the Angry Birds game. Everything else on the phone was there when they took it out of the box.
