Google Play Store app took away my Market app and I don't want Google Play. HELP!

I have a new Razr and it is my first smartphone. I mistakenly downloaded a Google app package whose app says Play Store and looks like a shopping bag. It includes Google Play, Google Music, Google Books, and Youtube Rentals. After I read the Terms of Service on Google Play I decided to decline the package because of privacy concerns. Now in my apps Market is missing because Google Play says it replaces Market. I don't know how to remove this Google app package, and if I do will I get my Market app back because that is pretty essential. Can anyone help me on this? I am so very new and inexperienced. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I just saw on the Droid board that the Market app has disappeared for everyone and is replaced by the Google Play app. I thank you for your attention but I have the problem under control. Thank you.

Does that mean that you will be restoring the Market App? If not, will you give everyone a process to get it back on their own?????

yawn... All opt outs are still the same. IT has never changed since the first time you picked up an Android device... They just simplified them into one simple one with the opt outs exactly the same as before...

I found that out today as well. This is my first smart phone and was just getting used to market and it dissappeared as well

From the very little bit that I have seen, the "Play Store" is the Android Market under a new name. I can't see any difference in functionality. Whatever you had in the Market you have in the Store. The Play Store app should have been "pushed" to your phone, and should be there among your applications. The Market app is not going to work any more, and you don't need to keep the shortcut around.

Frankly, I think Google could have made life a whole lot simpler by sending us all a text or e-mail letting us know that this was going to happen. I can't see that there's any improvement from the user point of view, but somehow to Google the Play Store feels more Google-y than the Android Market. The new name makes it sound like it's only for recreation, but the same actually useful apps are in the Store as in the Market.

Google rebranded the market because the Play store includes stuff (music, movies, books) that you don't necessarily need an Android phone to access/use. In an attempt to unify the Google experience and reduce confusion, they confused a lot of Android users. Because of the name and icon change (the only change to the market), the old shortcut most people had on their homescreen became broken and you have to remove the old shortcut and add a new one. That being said, you can uninstall updates to your Google Play Store, but because it is a silent and automatic update, it will not stick for very long.
