Sim card unlock (country unlock) for international use?

I have a verizon galaxy nexus.

I am currently in Korea with my phone and have been working on using it via local carrier.

Fortunately, they also have LTE/CDMA network service and told me I can use this phone in Korea.

However, they couldn't have done it due to country lock (sim card lock).

Somebody told me "There's an option on my My Verizon on the web with a code to unlock the simm card." but I cannot find it.

Could someone help me doing this?

I am currently outside U.S. so cannot call vzw.

You have to be a Verizon customer in good standing to get the Nexus unlocked.

I believe the rep thought you simlocked yourself and need the PUK to unlock your sim and not your phone.

The Nexus cannot connect to standard GSM networks. Even if it was sim unlocked and you put a different carrier's sim in there it would be unable to use it as it does not support UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA. Your Nexus is ready to roam on Korean CDMA networks; however, you would still be connected to VZW. If you wish to use a Korean network you would have to find out how to flash a Korean carrier's PRL into the phone. I not even going to begin to guess how to do this.

Yes, I am a verizon customer since 2007. Never had any conflict with payment or anything so I believe I am in good standing.

The local carrier rep I talked with said some countries, like U.S., unlock their phones so it cannot be used in other countries. She also said the only problem with using it in Korea is to unlock the country lock with verizon. The phone is already unlocked and I just need to unlock the sim card lock(country lock).

It would be really hard to contact vzw via phone here so I was thinking if there is any way that I can do it by myself.

Oh... I don't really understand what you are saying... haha...

but I took out the verizon 4g lte sim card so it is no longer connected to VZW.

Well, I don't know what it means by flashing PRL into the phone but I have gone through many procedures with the local carrier and have done all of them, the rep said once the country lock is removed, I can use this phone here.

So... hmm how can I get the sim unlocked????
