I'm a first time smart phone user. How do I find the apps that are installed on my Motorola Droid Pro?
Open your app drawer by tapping the key that looks like a bunch of little boxes forming a square. On my phone, it's to the left of the phone dialer. You can also go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications to view All, Downloaded, etc.
When I download apps from Play Store, I also use Manage Applications to move apps to my SD card to save internal memory. Some won't let you move them to the card, but you'll see this option in the ones that can.

Edited to add: To add a shortcut to an app on any of your home screens, hold your finger where you want it, wait for the menu to pop up, then choose App and the one you want to add.
