Picking out a phone

I have talk to two customer service reps on the phone, 1 raved about the iphone4 16 GB and the other Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX, she also recommended the LG Lucid...now Best Buy suggested the Samsung Galaxy Neuxa..... I am so confused!!! I have the Samsung Galaxy 1 and have been happy with it but tired of it freezing up and its time for an upgrade...suggestions????

IMHO, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx is the best phone on the market. It also has the longest battery life of any other smartphone. I've had mine since 1/21/12 and have had zero problems with it. I live in a 4G area and it's lightening fast including the hotspot feature. This is the phone I would recommend if you are computer literate and like the Android operating system.

For people who are not so computer literate and just want a good phone that works, I would recommend the IPhone4s. However it is a 3G phone, so if you live in a 4G area, I would go with the Razr Maxx regardless.

I too have the Razr Maxx, and also a Galaxy Nexus. The Maxx's battery life outclasses everything else - no questions. However, the Nexus is already running Ice Cream Sandwich (and due for an update any day now). Disclaimer: I'm a bit biased in that I don't do fruit (Apple, Blackberry)

So far, I really haven't had any major issues with either phone, even though others have (e.g. cracked gorilla glass on the Moto & dropped calls, random reboots on the GNex, etc., etc.) The Motorola definitely has a better antenna/signal than the Samsung - but this is mostly only noticeable in a weaker signal area.

My advice would be to read up on the Verizon forums (and other forums) for each of the phones you're considering. Learn what others already know - good and bad. Just remember, while it can definitely be informational, bad news always travels faster and farther than good.

I wouldn't let ICS influence my decision. First of all, who cares? Secondly, the Razr Maxx is getting ICS soon.

i thought i would just add to the confusion by suggesting the HTC Rezound. it's just a personal preference, but i prefer the user interface of HTC over motorola. however, if battery life is a concern for you then i would suggest the MAXX.

I have been reading everyones reviews but it gets so confusing as who is right or wrong...I know lots of people go on and on about the iphone but I really don't see the big hipe. I really want 4G..its not that I live in to much of a week signal area but I think I do want 4 G so that leaves iphone out...now down to two :smileyhappy:

nobody is right or wrong. this is a personal preference. i would recommend going in to a store and playing with them to see which one feels best to you.

Choosing a phone is like choosing a car. Some like Fords, some like Hondas, etc. Then, in the Ford department, some like the F150 truck, some like the Taurus, and so on. I'm sure you get the idea. I've had the Droid X, the Droid 2, the HTC Rezound, the LG Spectrum, and now the Droid Razr Maxx. Except for the Rezound, I had no trouble with any of them. As for the Motorola Droid family, you don't have much of a learning curve going from one to the other. Basically, they are all the same. I liked all my phones, excluding the Rezound, which I, personally, had problems with. I have the LG Spectrum with an extended battery. Gives me 12 to 16 hours of use. Great sound, great video camera, calls are crisp and clear. My Razr Maxx also gives me about 12 to 16 hours, but it's a new phone (and battery) and I'm sure that once I do a few depletes and recharges, it will increase. It too has a nice crisp and clear sound when I use it as a cell phone. Which phone will I recommend, I won't, it's something you have to decide. As AZSALUKI said, go to a Verizon store, or any store which sells cell phones (Walmart, Best Buy, etc.) and see them for yourself. Carefully read the revues. Compare the phones using the Verizon compare capability. I like my Ford whereas some people may hate Fords and like a Suzuki instead. Good luck.

My suggestion is to go on to www.cnet.com and read the reviews there. It is a trusted website for all things electronic, including cell phones. On that website they will give you editor reviews and customer reviews, and I found them to be very honest and very helpful when I was looking to upgrade to my first smartphone almost two months ago. After months of reading reviews, analyzing/comparing phone specifications, and going to stores to play with the phones, I did finally decide on the Razr Maxx (which so far I love). I had changed my mind a few times during the process based on what I was reading on the forums and the reviews, so be careful not to let what you read in the forums and reviews influence you too much. While they can be helpful in getting the good and bad news about the phones, they can also sway your decision sometimes unnecessarily. I agree with AZSALUKI in that you should go with what feels right for you. And by the way, ICS stands for Ice Cream Sandwich, and it is an Android operating system update that will be coming soon to a lot of the Android-based phones. The Galaxy Nexus already has it, but if you are considering the Razr Maxx it will be getting the ICS update soon so I wouldn't worry about the fact that GNex has it and the Razr Maxx doesn't. I wish you lots of luck in your decision-making process, and best of luck with whichever phone you choose!

i'm really not trying to confuse you....lol....i just feel like 2 year contracts are an eternity so i like to get something brand new when i'm locking myself into 2 years with it. i still like all of the phones mentioned earlier, but this one will be the "latest and greatest."

This it what I have come to find...the phones only last maybe over a year and new ones are always coming out sooner...I think 2 years is to long now for phones and they cost way to much money! But with that said I can't live without it so got to do what I have to do...same with gas they could make it high but people will pay cause we got to drive...ok now off my high horse haha...galaxy S111????? Whats that ones plus??? Ugh

For me, it would be between the Razr Maxx and Galaxy S3 (I love the white!). Like AZSALUKI said, spending some time in a store playing with them should help you make a decision. Come back and let us know what you end up getting.

I can not that u all enough for all ur help with this...my past few phones have been samsung and have been happy for the most part..do whis it was a little thicker cause I keep losing it in my purse :smileyhappy: def will check it out!!! Y'all are great thanks a million
