Sync errors with email accounts?

I have 2 email accounts set up on my phone, both have been working fine, until today. For some reason, neither account is "synced" anymore. My phone is telling me there is a sync error and I have to re-validate my accounts. Ok, no problem. So I try to enter my user name and password, but it keeps telling me that "the password and username you entered did not authenticate with your email provider. Please try again." I know my username and pw are correct. I haven't had any issues logging on to my emails from my computer. I keep trying but no success. I'm getting annoyed, as like many of you, my phone is my primary means for communication.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, specifically beginning today? I didn't see any update notices show up, so I'm not sure what happened.

I've tried to remove my email accounts from my phone, but no luck either. The phone is telling me" an error has occured. The operation could not be completed." It then jumps back to the above and wants me to re-validate my information.

Yep yep, just got my phone today...all my contracts ported over just fine but don't have a clue why I can't get email. Don't know if it's because I'm old and still use AOL. I also tried removing the account, but get that "can't complete this action" message. Kind of a bummer when you drop a few bills on a new phone and I can't even check email.

Have the same issues. Started as early as the 28th. Cannot delete email acct or authenticate passwords for email with AOL or Live or Gmail. Clearly appears to be a problem with Verizon or with the Razor. What does Verizon have to say?

I have the same issues. Same messages stuck in a loop about not being ablt to remove accout, "an error has occured", asking me to re-validate but password doesn't work even though I know it is correct.

I also tried logging into my verizonwireless.com account and then changing my "Profile" email address to myusername@yahoo.com and then waited to receive confirmation email at yahoo. I received that email so I then went back to verizonwireless.com and changed my "Profile" email address to myusername@aol.com. I changed it to my aol.com email account on Friday but I'm still waiting from the confirmation email from verizonwireless to my aol.com account - still have not received it. I expect that once I receive the confirmation email I can then click on the confirmation link and then try to re-sync my Droid with verizon.

I was able to create a 2nd email account on the Other section.

Same problems here. This is my first smartphone, so I do not have a clue about how to fix the problem. I have not been able to consistently get my Hotmail account to sync since I got the phone a few days ago. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I am prompted to enter my password and then it tells me it is an "incorrect password". What the heck?! I have had the same password since I originally entered it on this phone. Very frustrating as Hotmail is my primary e-mail account!

The Gmail account seems to be working okay. I just sent myself a test e-mail from Hotmail via my laptop and it came through right away on the phone.

Please advise.

this is lovely i cant seem to sync my phone either this is quite a set back for my company.

they need to respond or send us a message to or phones to let us know they have a problem and they are going to fix it.

I just finished my conversation with Tech Support. They said it is a "known issue" and that they're working on it.

I did somehow manage to create 2 emails accounts under the Other Email icon - not sure how I got there except that I waited and waited for the sync operation to end unsuccessfully.

My Yahoo is STILL HAVING this Issue... Stuck in a loop -- won't synch.. user name and pass is incorrect (which I KNOW it is) .. won't let me delete the account, won't let me add an account (already exsists it says)... this is AWFUL!!!! Basically = no email on a "Smartphone" ... ridiculous!!!! CMON VERIZON!!

I've had the same problem all morning with my AOL account. Have re-entered and re-set passwords, uninstalled and re-installed email, and still won't sync. It accepts my password for about 10 seconds, then tells me, again, there's error. Will just have to access email on web for now. So frustrated and trying so hard not to throw my new phone out the window. Completely lost my patience. Verizon better solve this soon.

I just got my phone yesterday and have been fighting with getting hotmail to work ever since using the Windows Live Hotmail setup option. Sounds like I'm not alone. Misery loves company, I suppose.

I havejust had success using the "other" e-mail setup option. Hotmail now appears to do exactly what I want it to do. I think the problem is with Verizon's pre-loaded Windows Live Hotmail setup option -- it's a piece of junk.

Even though the band-aid seems to work, Verizon needs to get this fixed.

Wow, been futzing with this off and on all day. Got a normal push from Yahoo mail this morning to my Razr M, and right after it was finished I got the blue "Username and/or Password Incorrect." Sync errors ever since, though my GMail account appears to work fine, but I may well be eating my words on that too soon if this is not a Yahoo-specific issue, as it has often been in the past.

Well at least it appears to be a Verizon specific issue so hopefully a fix soon.

Visited two (2) Verizon stores this afternoon, one of which was corporate. Neither were aware of the problem. However, the sales representative at the corporate store did say this type of issue is usually resolved in a day or two (2).

Same problem here-I am using Yahoo mail. My password is definitely correct and I can log in on my computer. It has been happening since the 28th.

Netzero and Gmail seem to be fine, Yahoo account having the said sync problems. Cannot remove account or add new.

Yahoo mail accounts work fine from my browser, via Droid or computer.

Someone just posted on another thread that they spoke with Verizon and the problem is apparently with Verizon's servers. The poster said they were told that it could be a few more days before it's fixed.

To bypass this error while Verizon is working on it, go into your phone's settings, select email account> account settings>add account. If an error box pops up asking for you to re-validate your accounts, go ahead and enter your password, and while the phone is processing, hit the home button, go back into settings, go back to where you can add an account, and it should let you add a new one. Create a new account under the "Other" option for the account you are having issues with (not under the actual email name, such as "Yahoo"). This worked for me. You could also go through that process to remove the account you are having issues with if you don't want to deal with the error messages. Hope this helps!

Same problem here. Seems to be limited to POP accounts and not IMAP accounts on my Droid Razr Maax. I cannot BELIEVE this bug has not been fixed yet!

I have a relatively new Razr M which worked just fine until suddenly my aol mail account stopped working. My gmail acct is just fine. The error message was stupid - made it sound like it was a password error, and it's obviously not.

I am not happy with Verizon's responses when you call them. Maybe the "B team" is working because of the holidays?

I have been having this problem for nearly a week now. I have tried everything but all I managed to do is delete the email account. It says that the password and username did not authenticatewith my email provider but we all know that is just plain BS.

Thanks Verizon, I am sure that they will reduce our monthly bill accordingly due to the lack of service provided.

I have been having the same problem with my Yahoo account. I deleted the account and set I up again under "Other" and it is now working fine. My wife has the same phone and her yahoo account has been working fine.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I'm trying to add the "other" email account. Now, if I could just find the "other" option, I may be able to get a temp band aid until this is fixed by VZW.

If you're using Yahoo, you also could try the Yahoo Mail app from Google Play or setting it up as an IMAP account.

I noticed roughly 2 1/2 weeks ago that my email account as synced to my verizon/yahoo email had disappeared. I surmised something had gone wrong on Verizon's end causing the disappearance. And being Verizon is notorious for not notifying its customers of technical issues that negatively affect wireless communications, I determined it would be useless to call and speak to some CSR or TSR who would simply answer according to script. That said, since that time, however, I had not been able to re-add the account until finally today. Now the account does not sync and I experience all the error messages and problems reported by all 4G smartphone owners who have a Verizon email account.

Suggestions:

1. Access your Verizon email account then change your settings to forward your email to another account. At least you will be able to receive and read the email.

2. Gradually transition yourself away from Verizon email to another email provider that does not present lingering technical issues without timely solutions.

3. Via the Internet on your phone you can access your Verizon email and create a shortcut link on your phone to your email access page so you do not have to repeatedly navigate to the Internet to access it.

Whether Verizon fixes this issue soon or never is unclear. I would suggest employing alternatives to email access while waiting or until it is time to change providers, if desired.

I had exact same problem begin 1/2/2013 about 9AM with my Yahoo email--the email just stopped working--did not send, did not receive

I finally fixed it by deleting the old yahoo account, then doing what other said above--added the same yahoo email using the "Other" option when you go to add an email account

I really dislike Verizon--i pay over $200 a month for my family's phones--and we don't even get service in our house (it is a major lower Westchester NY city )--we're told "we're in a dead spot"--how delightful. I commute to Manhattan everday--and of course, there is no verizon service once in the Park Avenue tunnels

Now, this email nonsense--no communication from Verizon, nothing.--totally and utterly unacceptable.

I've had the same problem for about a week now. I just added a "new" account under "other" and my email came right up. Thanks so much for the helpful advice.

After dealing with this issue I found the problem is with Verizon email restore funtion not allowing your email password to sync with your email accounts. I following the steps below I was able to fix the problem on my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD to bypass the email restore and allow you to setup each email account like new. I don't work for Verizon, but I hope this helps...

Go into All Settings, and under Device select Apps, and in the top menu stroll over to ALL...

then EMAIL and click clear cache and click SD Card data.
Then click Force Stop.

Exit Settings, then go into your apps folder and select Email. You will see checking for existing accounts but DO NOT select any email address if prompted to do so because there is an problem the restore.

Select "Do not restore and add new", and then select "Other". Input your email address and password then follow the prompts. You will see your email start to load. I was able to successful setup my YAHOO account with "Other", but when I select YAHOO from the account selection it did not work. So you may be able to do the same for AOL to if need be.

For each account you want to add "do not" add from within the Email account. Go to all settings and Accounts, then select "Corporate" then Account settings" to add another. Do not select any email accounts it finds for you. There seem to be a problem with restoring email accounts this way and if you do select from the list it shows you... you will hose up your email again. Always select "Do not restore and add new”. Just add it like doing it for the first time setup. My email is working fine after this process.

So, I have the Droid RAZR Maxx HD and I have now started to have this issue. I ended up calling and got an upper tier support agent however, the lady didn't have the slightest clue as to what to do. She had it set in her head that it was something I was doing and she might have been right. After going back and forth with useless problem solving methods for an hour I went to www.vzw.com/sync from my computer, logged in and (if your email account doesn't pop up right away) then to Settings underneath Mobile Groups on the right-hand side. On the left under General click Accounts, Manage Accounts and Remove. Now you can sign out of your Backup Assistant Plus account. Next, on my phone I went to Settings > Apps > All Apps > Menu > Reset App Preferences and then a reboot. Then I added my Yahoo account and everything works fine now. The problem (I believe) is because I hate Backup Assistant and had disabled the Backup Assistant apps among others. However, my email did work fine for over a week and out of the blue this started happening today. So, who knows but my Yahoo is actually working now. :smileyhappy:

This is actually a yahoo server issue. The server does not like to respond a lot to android. The best way to keep your yahoo account working is to download the yahoo mail app from the play store. The app is provided directly from yahoo...

No thanks. I hate that app. I would rather delete my Yahoo account. And sorry buddy, but it IS a Verizon server issue. If it was a Yahoo issue then why are people having the exact same issue with AOL and Hotmail????

I don't particularly like that app either but it's a workaround. The email servers respond differently to mobile devices that the computers etc. If all the other data on the device works fine then verizons side is working.

You can try setting up the Yahoo account under the "Other" account type and manually set the server and port information. Some user have had luck with that if they didn't want to use the Yahoo application.

ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! I FIXED THE PROBLEM MYSELF WITHOUT THE VZW TECH SUPPORT HELP! CAUSE I JUST STARTED GETTING THE ERROR SNYC BS WHEN I GOT A NEW NFC SIM CARD. THEY STILL DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. BUT I DO!!!! Don't screw with the settings on manually configuring your email accts or all that other BS. The ONES having the ISSUES on removing AOL account from your phone without restoring your phone. Do the following STEPS and you will remove the AOL or ANY other emails scyn you're facing issues with...

1st: tap on settings,

2nd scroll down and tap APPS

3rd: swipe your screen till the taps on the top shows "ALL" Apps

4th: scroll down till you find "EMAIL"

5th: Do the following in this ORDER: 1) click CLEAR CACHE 2) CLEAR DATA 3) FORCE STOP 4) CLICK HOME BUTTON & 5) FINALLY DO A BATTERY PULL WHILE PHONE IS STILL ON TO RESET those that have the Razr Maxx HD HOLD POWER AND LOWER VOLUME KEY DOWN at the same time till the screen turns black while still holding the power button, let go the volume key, when you see the droid logo let go the power button and your phone has done a battery pull alike process. And just add all your email(s) back.

NOTE!!! Doing these steps will delete all your emails (YAHOO, AOL, HOTMAIL, MSN, ATT, ICLOUD) from your phone EXCEPT your GMAIL ACCTS. IT WILL NOT DELETE YOUR GMAIL ACCTS ONLY NON GMAILS ACCTS IT WILL DELETE. UNDERSTAND, COMPRENDER, CAPIRE, MAINTINDIHAN?....

Just give me my Props.... on fixing this

My Push was no longer working on my Note 2 with Hotmail or Gmail after an update. I used the help above but took a short cut and it worked! This is what I did:

Tap:

Settings (from main screen)

Application Manager

Clear Cache

I then just restarted my phone and it worked! Thanks for the help ChoChoPR!

mine is a DROID2 GLOBAL, and the google email/address apps stopped working recently on the phone. I just found this Verizon site and got the gmail email/address apps working again thanks to info on [ChoChoPR May 19, 2013 12:07 AM]

My quick & sick successful solution was

a) remove my existing google email account onto the Verizon phone

b) remove the battery, wait a minute, and reinstall the battery.

-- give this a try, otherwise follow the steps recommended by others!

I was not able to change POP servers and reinstalling Yahoo did nothing.

On my galaxy note 2, SSL was the problem; it needs to be disabled.

Go to Yahoo mail, hit the upper left corner to go to folders, scroll all the way down to settings, choose general settings, then "Enable SSL" - disable it if it is enabled. My problem was solved by this. Apparently this is for corporate emails, which can have security encryption and does not work well with personal email.
