iPhone not Texting

I cannot send or receive texts betwen my son's iPhone 4 and my Android 2.  They are both Verizon, and even on the same account.  None of the suggestions I have found in this and other forums have worked. The whole purpose f getting him a phone was to communicate with him.

Let's get this figured out. I use text messaging for everything. I would be happy to look into this with you! Do you encounter an error message when you send him a text? Can other people send him text messages? Please try deleting both contacts and readd as 10 digit numbers and retest.
