Home screen freezes after Jellybean update.

Since my phone was updated with Jellybean, the home screen frequently freezes and I have to do a soft reset. This occurs about ten times a day. I have cleared the cache multiple times, but this hasn't helped. In addition my reception has been bad and battery life has decreased. My wife has the same phone and has the same issues.

Which phone do you have?

I am going to ask the question that causes much drama amongst the techs, Have you done a factory data reset? Some say don't have to/should not have to.

Make sure you back up what you can off your memory devices (internal and SD) before doing it. Seems to me, after my Razr M got the OTA, It acted little squirrelly, so I did one.

If you take it to Verizon, I think that will be their recommendation too.

When you say cache clear is this what your did?

Also one of the apps that you have installed may not like Jelly Bean. Try running in Safe Mode for a day.

Finally, if you are still having problems do the Factory Reset as Dorkmaster suggested.

I have a Droid Razr. Yes, the cache clear I did is the one Breezex shows. What's the easiest way to back-up my data before doing a factory reset? Thanks for the help.

I don't know the easiest way to back up before a Factory Reset. I take a minimalist view and do a bare minimum. Some people recommend backup apps from the Play Store, for example Titamium Backup. Seach the Play Store for backup apps. The only one that I use is SMS Backup and Restore to save all of my texts. I run it prior to doing the reset and store the backup on my external SD card.

Here's what I do:

Run SMS backup and Restore
Do screen shots of my App drawer screens (gives me a record of what apps I had)
Backup internal storage to a PC
Backup external SD card to PC
All of my contacts are on Gmail so they are safe and they resync automatically
Do Factory Reset
Copy back to the phone from my PC any data, music, pictures, files, etc. that may have been erased.
Run SMS Backup and Restore to restore my texts.
Spend hours resetting up my 10 email logins/servers, setting custom ringtones for family and a few friends, download apps from Amazon Appstore, Google apps in Play Store seem to automatically reinstall themselves, resync my calendars if they did not automatically resync, reset and connect to WiFi if it did not automatically connect, login and setup all the apps that require logins and setup, customize and populate all of my screens, etc.
Plus anything else that I have forgotten.

Why do I go to all of this manual trouble. It gives me an opportunity to weed out apps and services that I really don't use. I'm amazed at the amount of junk that I can get rid of and not miss every time I do a reset.
