S4 should be given for free to anyone with an S3 or Galaxy phone

It frustrates me greatly that so many have discussed the issues with Samsung phone reception on Verizon. I've tried to get a rep to even look at the thousands of posts about this issue on XDA but they say they can't access pdaphone or xdadeveloper or androidpolice. I'd be fine if they let me trade my phone for a DNA as well. I don't think I should be stuck with a phone with known reception issues because Verizon refuses to admit the issue. When I first got my phone they said there would be an update to fix the issue. Months later I've got an update but still have crappy reception.

I have a Galaxy Nexus and I can get to those websites no problem.

Also no one on Verizon Wireless has an Galaxy S4 yet so how would a person be given one for free in exchange for their "existing" S4?

You must mean an S4 should be given to anyone with an existing S3, correct? And why would Verizon and/or Samsung do that?

Think the reps at VZW are limited to what outside websites they can access. We have the same limitations at work also

Because the S3 is defective if it can't get good reception in the same places the DNA and RAZR get good reception.

Are you a Verizon Rep? >MODERATOR COMMENT: No one who has responded is a VZW employee< If so I'll be happy to call you and send you tons of links that list the reception issues with the ya. Hopefully after you peruse a few thousand, you'll let me trade my S3 for a phone that works well as a phone. The PDA side of the S3 is great, the reception stinks.

No one in this thread is a Verizon rep; they are clearly identified by their rank/avatar.

I'm referring to the many many posts on S3 forums about the issues with the reception on the Verizon version of the S3. If you do a quick google on S3 reception verizon you'll find a ton of posts on the xdadeveloper website along with pda police, pdaphone etc.

Thanks, then I guess I don't know why that person wanted to say they could get to that website when I was pointing out that the Verizon reps can't get to sites describing issues with their own products.

They'll issue a patch before they do anything of that magnitude.

Thank you for sharing your wireless concern. A dropped call is the absolute LAST thing our customers expect from us. After all, we work around the clock so such mishaps doesn't happen. Rest assured as I am on the job. May I ask what city, state, and zip code are you in? Also, have you noticed a pattern with the dropped calls? For example, does it happen only when you receive a call or with a particular number. If you can be so kind as to share the details of your concern then I can customize a solution for you

I have experienced the issue while stationary at my desk where I get 3-4 bars as well as while traveling throughout Los Angeles. I've had it happen on the PCH by the 10 freeway (often). I've had it happen on the 10 by the 405 and by downtown a number of times. I've had it at the intersection of the 101 and the 5 a number of times.

I've had it happen throughout CT - Bristol - 6 and Tunxis. I've had it happen on the 84 by exit 16 a number of times. I've had it happen while stationary in Wethersfield (2 -3 bars) at the intersection of Jordan and the 99. I've had it on the 91 while heading up towards Enfield.

I've had it happen throughout Dallas on the loop.

I've had it happen in Tucson at the airport (stationary - 4-5 bars).

I've exchanged my phone a couple of times. I bought the Samsung S3 thinking it would finally free me of the frequent drops of the Galaxy Nexus. I have friends with the HTC DNA - no issues in those same areas and they are on Verizon. Likewise even the iPhone 4 (not even the s) works great in those same areas - again on Verizon. I work with some people in Los Angeles with the RAZR - again no issues on Verizon. So I don't think it is Verizon - I think it is Samsung. This issue is VERY WELL detailed on XDA developer and and pdaphone and android police. I'm not isolated and I doubt it is just a bad batch since I exchanged my phone in another STATE and had the same issue.

If you'd like I'll start posting the links on many websites including Engadget that note the poor signal/reception on the Samsung phones on Verizon.

It is kind of embarrassing to have to keep borrowing phones from friends even though we are all on Verizon.

I have clients and friends all over the country. My clients are all on land lines - I've never dropped a call while using a friends phone. My friends are half and half land/cell. There is no pattern other than they drop on my phone but not on my friends. My friends are used to me dropping calls when I speak to them and are getting a tad cheesed off with me.

I had a Samsung smartphone previously, and went through a lot of the same issues you have.. I have a RAZR MAXX now, does that tell you what I think about the issues with Samsung?

I know what you mean, I'm trying to trade my S3 to anyone who will give me a better phone such as the DNA (trading on craigslist). I did my best to work with customer service a few times but they wouldn't let me exchange my phone. A lot of people were lucky on XDA and managed to exchange their S3 and Galaxy phones beyond the 30 days but it is the luck of the draw or maybe they were just better than me at being a squeeky wheel.

I understand a lot of people will never know how bad the phone reception is on this device as so many people just text these days but I use about 3000 minutes per month and you tend to realize just how bad this thing is as a phone. A lot of people warned me the Galaxy Nexus had wretched reception but I was switching to Verizon and so many people just posted that a firmware would fix it I thought they must know something that I didn't. When the S3 came out I rushed out and got it hoping it would put an end to my issues with reception but it is only slightly better than the Nexus.

Samsung and Verizon don't play nice together but for some reason the Verizon CRs I spoke to don't seem very concerned since they can't read the posts on XDA, droid police and pdaphone. If they can't read the problems they must not exist.

I just spent the entire day at a client's office in Culver City - Uplander way. They had 2 other people in the office with Verizon phones - one had the Apple iphone 4 and the other had an HTC DNA. The person with the DNA left early but I know the person with the iphone 4 on Verizon spent the entire day talking o her phone. I wasn't able to get ANY signal so my phone was dead by 3PM.

This phone is DEFECTIVE. I've already exchanged it so the phone is defective by DESIGN. Verizon should let anyone who bought this defective phone get a replacement of their choice of equal value.
