Since updating to JB on my Razr M, I lost my stored speed dial settings and can't figure out how to reinstall them. Can anyone help? Thanks.
JB 4.1.1 removed the speed dial function.
Try this:
Is this a bug, or a permanent, un-feature of Jelly Bean? The Direct Dial works, but I don't find it as convenient as a half dozen speed dial's for my favorite calls. Any reason for the regression? "1" still works for VM, so I don't see why other speed dials can't work. My wife and I wasted several minutes trying to figure out what happened to speed dial and how to recreate. The setup disappeared from the menu.
Just downloaded the Motorola RAZR M JB Manual and it still has the setup for speed dial...
This feature has been removed with the jelly bean update and who know why they remove a feature that works well and has been working for years. I agree with you that creating direct call widgets is excess steps for no reason.
Well.. Thought I downloaded the JB Manual for RAZR M. It was labeled as such on Motorola site, but after noticing several discrepancies with JB function and the manual, I used some file comparison software to search for differences. It revealed that the version advertised to be JB, was exactly the same as the older (ICS) version of manual. So, there is no JB manual available yet (Dec. 8, 2012).
My RAZR did the same thing, I just added my speed dial numbers to my favorites. It holds more than nine numbers and there is a name and picture instead of having to remember what number I assigned them. Actually like it better than speed dial.
I guess now they want you to fumble thru favorites while driving instead of hitting a simple button to call someone. i need my speed dials. I guess its time to ditch android and switch to apple. why do tey always have to change things that work just fine the way they are
Another alternative to speed dial is to use the Favorite Contacts widget (not the Favorites in the People app, but the widget).
I agree. It's outrageous that they don't have a speed dial in Jelly Bean.
Using more than 2 clicks to make a phone call is ridiculous and dangerous. Hello?? Don't these people call home to say they are stuck in traffic?
The best solution I've found is to use the resident direct dial widget. You can stack as many of them as you need in a folder on your home screen or even docked at the bottom of your screen.
1st-click to select the folder
2nd-click to select and call.
Excellent!
