iPhone 4 ios 6 upgrade problems

I've been trying for months to upgrade my ios. Have backed up apps, contacts, music etc... when I go to upgrade, it starts to back up and then I get an error OxE8000...message that I will loose everything if I can continue after it starts backing up and asks me to proceed or not. Of course I don't. What is up? How do I proceed? What does loose :"everything" mean?

lose everything would mean just that. however I would go to http://www.apple.com and check the forum with that error code etc. Apple or other users may have a better answer for you and your concerns.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been unable to update your software, kdmquito. I'm confident that I can help you get this tasked completed.
