External SDHD Not "Real"??

I would like to move some of the less-frequently-used apps to the SD card on my RAZR Maxx HD..

I installed AppMgr III in order to accomplish the moves to a 32GB SDHD card inserted into the RAZR, and which is already storing data.

Unfortunately, when the app loads, I get the following message:

"The device does not have a real primary external storage, or the primary external storage is emulated. Moving app to SD function cannot be supported by this device."

Does anyone know the source of the problem and how I can fix it?

Android 4.0 and higher doesn't support applications installed on the external SD card.

Thank you. Why does that sound like a step backwards rather than a move

forward?? Unless I want to store a lot of music or pictures, what good is

having that extra storage space on an external card in the current models??

You say "what good is having that extra storage space on an external card in the current models??" It is exactly for what you mention, "to store a lot of music or pictures" or other type of files. That is why the Razr Maxx HD DOES NOT come with an SD card and you only purchase one if you see fit.

Why would you need to move the "less-frequently-used apps" to the card if you don't want to use the space for something else such as "a lot of music or pictures". The 82 apps and associated data on my Razr Maxx HD only take up 3.64 GB on my internal memory. Throw in another ~6 GB reserved for the android OS and I still have 22 GB available for additional apps to download. Seems like plenty of space to me.

On my 32 GB SD card, I have 16 GB of music/movies/photos along with other assorted files leaving me with 13 GB of available space on the SD card.

As to whether or not this is a "step backwards rather than a move forward", that is a matter of opinion. As it seems that more devices are being introduced without SD slots, it seems the move forward in the future will be to eliminate the SD slot completely which would coincide with Google's choice to delete this capability.

Keep in mind if the SD slot IS eliminated in the future, it will hopefully not be in another dismal attempt such as the DNA which sported a measly 16 GB of internal storage. Maybe with other internal memory levels available like the iPhone/iPad but as the only option. Definitely not!!!!!!
