I just bought a Driod Razr Maxx HD. When it is sitting idol, a vioce "Droid" just announces itself. Is there a way to turn that off?

That sounds like the default notification sound. There are settings there that will play that sound when you lose the network, or you go into ROAMING, etc. To change these, go to SETTINGS | SOUND and you can change the notification tone, and then you can check or uncheck the other options there.

+1 Weather notifications can trigger this as Well if you have a App for weather set to put them out..
Mine does the same thing but because its turning off and back on (rebooting) all on its own for no reason. I'm on here looking for help with that if anyone might know-thanks!
Have you tried holding the power and volume down buttons simultaneously for 15-30 seconds? You also might try a system cache clear (the instructions have been posted multiple times on this forum if you want to do a search; let me know if you can't find them).
