Voice Command does not function anywhere on phone

Have owned the RAZR MAXX HD for two weeks. Voice Command functionality does not work regardless of whether I try to open it from the apps list, dialer, or contacts list. The error I get reads as follows: "Unfortunately, Voice Command has stopped." If I use the Google Now microphone it does seem to work on a limited basis for certain contacts. Would really like to use the phone hands free while driving but the lack of voice command functionality prevents this.

Lets show that Voice Command who's boss, Slappy64! I know you've had this phone for just a short amount of time. When did this begin? Have you downloaded any new apps recently? Please enable Safe Mode (steps http://bit.ly/P8of9A) then try the Voice Command. If this works properly again, we can determine that there is a corrupt application causing the trouble. Keep me posted!

I am having the same problem with a Droid Razr Maxx I've had for a few months now. It has been happening occasionally for several days but today I cannot use voice command at all. I use the VC from my plantronics bluetooth to make calls while driving, of which I do a lot. I tried starting in safe mode as suggested but to no avail and I have not installed any apps lately.

I have the same prob with my droid 4. i have tried reboots and safe mode. i also saw that rolling back updates to gmail worked for some people. that didnt help in my case. i have even gone through "manage apps" and stopped every application i could. no joy. any other suggestions.

I have the same problem as of this morning. I updated a lot of apps this morning and after which I got the same error. Most likely, one of those updates has caused the problem.

I am having the same problem with my RAZR MAXX. Update over a dozen programs this morning and now when voice command is starting gives message " Unfortunately , Voice Commands has stopped." using a blue tooth to connect. Please help as i use this function all the time.

Fixed it! I had the same problem today with my Droid 4 and search the internet to find some answers. Techs were saying that you cannot roll back updates for the OS and what not but that is not true. I found a free App on Google Play that did backups and restores for apps and the OS. Even though it was too late to have a restore to go back to, I was able to see all the updates and loads that had happened today and uninstalled them from within the program and it did roll them back to the previous versions. I had to uninstall Google Search, Google Play Books and Zillow. and then my Voice Commands would work again. The error I was receiving when I tried to voice command was "Unfortunately Vioce Commands has stopped". I hope this helps someone. NOt trying to sell anything but the App that worked was AppMonster Free Backup Restore.

I just started running into the same problem today on my DROID RAZR MAXX after some updates as well. It looks like it is in the update to Google Play Music. If you go into the marketplace, pull up your apps and go to Google Play Music, click on uninstall. It will not uninstall the program (as it is a system program), but will instead remove updates.

After uninstalling this update, voice commands began working again.

Verizon told me it was a Motorola update issue. When I called Motorola, they remotely checked the affected Droid4 for the known issue of a Google Play Music conflict. Once this was uninstalled, Voice Commands worked.

I have a Droid RAZR and this just started happening to me yesterday. Uninstalling Google Play Music fixed my problem. Thanks.

Thank you Robin. I uninstalled updates to "google play music" and it works fine now. I also went to "Play store" -settings and turned off Auto update. From now on I will only update the apps I use and when something breaks I will know what last updates I did, that my have broken something else.

Does anyone know of a way to list recent updates done? I couldn't find this info and if I did, I may have been able to figure it out myself.

I uninstalled the updates for Google play music. I went through this when they upgraded to jellybean. Google voice Sucks it makes your Bluetooth useless. I don't get it your supposed to make things better NOT WORSE! The Motorola Bluetooth is made to use without touching your phone. Google voice WOULDN'T RECOGNISE A SINGLE NAME when I tried to make a call.

My Voice Commands stopped working after Google pushed out the new Google Play Music. I've uninstalled it FOUR times and it keeps reinstalling itself. Already complained to Google. No one cares. I'd rather have the Voice Commands app because I use it for hands free driving. Anyone know of a way to keep the new Google Play Music from reinstalling itself?

You can't totally get away from it unfortunately its a Google app and even though you can get rid of the Updates the factory platform of it will remain.. So Until Google realizes the problem and sends out a fix an >> Update we with the phones it's affecting will have to endure it.. I don't like it either but O well..

If you uncheck the box for automatic updates, then it won't keep updating itself automatically.

Droid Razr Maxx:

I just called Verizon Tech Support with this problem. It took a while, but they came back with the same solution. I'd previously tried Safe Mode to no avail.

Go to Apps.

Run Google Play Store

Press the Menu Button

Select My Apps

Select Google Play Music

Press the Menu Button

Un-Check Auto-Update

If you get the dialog box asking if you want to revert to the factory version of the app, click OK.

Problem solved.
