Droid 2 Global overheating

Why does my Droid 2 overheat when charging? About once a month when I plug it in at night to charge, it will overheat to the point where in the morning when I go to get it, it and the table it's sitting on are so hot that I'm shocked it hasn't started a fire. Any suggestions?

Your phone is so hot that it's heating up the table, shy_girl! That's a little warm, but it won't catch fire. It is normal for the temp to increase while charging. How long after disconnecting the device does the phone cool down?
