WARNING for 4.1 Jelly Bean update

There is a problem in this update that causes "Vibrate on Touch" to be always on. The setting still exists; it just doesn't do anything.

This appeared on my Razr Maxx with the 4.1 update. It appears to happen on 4.1 across the board. This is also verified on a Droid DNA running 4.1,

Personally, I find the vibration feedback extremely annoying. If you also do, you might want to refuse this update until things get sorted out.

I don't notice any vibrating. When does this vibration happen?

Edit: Never mind, I see what you're talking about. When you type. Doesn't seem like an issue to me, but I don't type that much.

So you are saying that it cannot be turned off in any way?

see if this works:

system settings > language and input > click on the gear icon to the right of Android Keyboard > Scroll down to Advanced Settings > Scroll down to Keypress sound volume settings and click on it > Set the slider to 0

I did that except there is a selection for "vibrate on keypress" that I unchecked and solved the problem. So, once again the problem is with the user, not with JB. Thanks.

There is a learning curve with every update. I don't have JB yet, but have been reading up ... I hate vibrating keyboards.

I did the update about an hour ago, and vibrate on key press is not on by default. Overall, not a lot of differences, We'll see how the battery life is...

You Darn Skippy there is! i need some new spectacles just to see the Upper Deck part in the pull down Bar the stuff is so small And i wished the Battery indicator was a Different Color than Blue there's too much). I wouldn't mind a decent shade of Green Maybe...

On mine Tiki it's Grayed Out.. Scroll down to Advanced Settings > Scroll down to Keypress sound volume settings and click on it > Set the slider to 0

Unless clicking on something in that area light's it up to were an adjustment can be Made...

Bravo. I don't have a volume slider under Language and Input/Android Keyboard, but I do have a second Vibrate on Touch control.

Some experimenting tells me that the original VoT under Sounds, the one that existed under all previous updates, affects vibration only for the 4 control buttons at the bottom of the phone. The VoT under Language and Input affects typing in applications.

I have to say that this is really ugly user interface design.
