downloading music to a sd card for env2

i bought a sd card and the adapter for my computer. i have tried to download music to the card(which the card shows it on there) but i cant get the music to my phone. any sujestions would be appreciated.

I don't have the exact same phone but on mine, I have to make sure the music is not in folders to get it to work.  I can download through a card reader individual songs and when I stick them back in my phone, it says "Adding songs to library" and the phone organizes them according to album and artist.
