Bought an unlocked IPhone 5 at applestore( i believed) but it was locked to Verizon!!

I bought an IPhone 5 16GB at Applestore fifth avenue i NYC. I told the seller that i needed an unlocked IPhone to use in Norway! When i came back in Norway couple a days ago and looked at the reciept i see that it is written on the reciept that it is locked to Verizon Wireless!! I have not opened the original package yet cause i do not know if i can use it or not in Norway!? Do i need to unlock the phone to use it? Can someone please help me?

Verizon iPhone 5's all come sim unlocked. That means you can put the sim from any carrier in it and use it. Data speed will depend on the frequency.
