Phone shuts off whenever I plug it into charger

Whenever I plug my phone into the charger, a few seconds later it makes a popping noise and shuts off completely. Then it restarts and the Motorola logo appears on the screen, but then it goes black again, restarts until the logo appears on the screen, then shuts off again. It continually does this whenever it is is plugged into the charger, and I cannot turn it on when it is plugged in either. Any help appreciated.

I have a few Questions:  How old is the Razr,?  Is the Charger a Motorola OEM and is being plugged into a AC outlet or Via Computer ?. Is there any Dust or any other foreign material that you can possible see in the Charge port if you have good bright flashlight this can help see any material. if see any try removing it carefully..
