Hello,
I am in South Africa and I brought my American Verizon Blackberry Bold 9930 with me, and acquired an unlock code, and have been trying to set up the phone with a local sim card and have encountered substantial problems.
The main problem is that to activate my phone, I need to dial #111* or some version of that. I also need to activate my mobile bank account by dialing some form of #[numbers]*.
I can make calls and send texts, but any time I try to do any command like that, a message pops up that says "call forwarding --conditional" and then the operation fails and the screen says "disconnected."
I'm not sure what the problem is and therefore I don't know how to fix it.
I cannot use my phone for any data or internet services, and the phone company says they can't help me because it is a problem from Verizon's side .. something about BIS (blackberry internet services) and my phone/pin needing to be de-registered. I thought i did this with Verizon already; I have an unlock code and Verizon told me "they have deleted the verizon sim card from the line."
Also, I can't check my voicemail .. when I dial my SA phone number, I get a busy tone and it disconnects.
Also, when i make outgoing calls, in the top right hand corner of the screen it says "my number: ### ### ####" and lists my American number, even though I have removed that sim card from the phone.
I want to use my blackberry as a blackberry ... with internet, data-requiring apps, bbm, and email ... and I can do none of these things. Please help!
