New Commando freezes

Had my new Commando 4g about two weeks and I am having constant problems with the phone freezing up.Tapping the screen won't work. You can't even shut it off. I have to pull the battery to reset. This happens a least a couple times a day. anyone else having similar problems?

O that's No fun with a new phone have you tried running the phone in Safe Mode as sometimes 3rd party apps can cause issues like what your describing). I would try that or Maybe clear System Cache to see if stops the issue but if it persist you may have to Factory Reset. the phone

I want to make sure you are able to enjoy that fantastic new device you just picked up. I don't see there's been a wipespread report of freezing trouble with this awesome device. Did you happen to notice if you had just sent a message or accessed a particular application when the phone froze? Did you get an opportunity to put the phone in Safe Mode as Nicholas suggested? It's a great way to make sure there's no 3rd party applications that were recently installed that may not work properly with the programming of your phone.

My Dad is having the same issues with this new Commando 4g. It's almost as if it goes to sleep and it won't wake back up. He pushes the power button and nothing! He has to pull the battery and restart the phone back up! This has been happening at least 2-3 times a day! Not a good start for a long expected phone! I hope this is a software issue and gets fixed soon! My Dad is VERY frustrated!

The problem isn't an app it's the device. If it wasn't a pieced together conglomeration of what VZW and Casio thought an Android phone should look and act like it would be fine. Having owned many Androids I have learned that you buy something as close to Stock Android or deal with the glitches. I bought this Commando for water resistance, period. If you want to make notes for other Customer service reps to follow on this issue just write " act surprised about issue, claim you've never heard of this issue, and recommend safe mode ".

Same Issues with my husbands new command 4g. we have to make a decision by tomorrow weather to get a new commando or pick a different phone. All the reps claim this is not a known issue and yet we have written all over the forum about the same issue.

With the issues that one's are experiencing it may be best to move to another Device (( Just be aware there is a $ 35 dollar restocking fee and if you choose another device you have to stay with it through the Contract..

Ouch! I am sad to hear your husband is having these problems with such a great phone. If you have already tried safe mode and you are still in the 14 day Worry Free Guarantee; I would recommend returning it to the store and trying another Commando. It truly is a great phone. I just bought this phone, not the Gz'one commando, but the Gz'one commando 4G (so the safe mode instructions above are not applicable).

It is OK, my 14 days are up, I'm keeping it, and it is good at what it does (be waterproof). The camera could be better, colors are bad but it does take sharp shots for an 8 megapixel. But like the complaints above the biggest problem is the constant freezing (which happened BEFORE I installed ANY third party software). It is useless as an alarm because it freezes at night. At least once every few days I need to restart it because it freezes on the lock screen.

When is verizon going to learn every time it musses up stock android they are causing these phones to be buggy.

Please forward my sentiments to anybody who has decision making power the junk they load on phones. Also if they didn't load junk then we wouldn't be stuck with ancient 2 year old android 4.0 when 4.3 is about to be released. Any possible date for upgrade?

Wow.. I was just gonna ask about this phone for my wife who is very abusive on phones.. looks like I'll move on. She is already frustrated with her original Droid Incredible, granted she did sink it to the bottom of a horse water trough and it was a great phone in it's time... lol

I've had the Commando LTE since July 1st, I'd like to return it for a Samsung Galaxy S3, the C771 before this model worked better. It all started after my 14 day grace period. I keep experiencing the random freezing, restart it by pulling the battery and the SD card keeps unmounting on it's own.

My account with Verizon goes back when they bought out Ameritech in the early 90's.

Verizon what can you do for me at this point?

You are past the return period. You can purchase a different device at full price, used the payment plan or you can try the trade-in option to reduce the cost of the phone for your Verizon store options. There is also Swappa or eBay for used devices.

Yes, I have been having this same problem.. Up graded from the original Commando 12 days ago and I'm giving the "NEW" one a try. I have had to exchange it already since that one was freezing up and this second one with in 12 days is Freezing up too. VERY frustrating!!! What to do? How do I see if it's running in SAFE MODE ?

The 3G Commando used to freeze and reboot on me a lot, but I haven't had a problem with the 4G one. I am thoroughly enjoying it, and built-in ability to tell me how much data I'm using for which programs and to automatically warn and deactivate my usage when I tell it to. And I'm a customer very not happy with VZW (specifically their almost constant price increases), so I have no problems putting things bluntly.

But I do want to help anybody I can with this phone as phones for me are usually toasted because I'm so rough on them. The only thing that I can think of that I haven't seen anybody talk about is disabling apps. I went in to the Manage Apps screen, all apps, and disabled all of the annoying bloatware that Verizon puts on there that I never use like that NFL Mobile and Zappos thing. Doing so might be what's freed up enough memory on my phone to avoid these lock-ups.

I also have a MicroSD card. All of my programs themselves are on my phone, but I save all of my movies, downloads, etc to the card. I try to not mix-and-match resource usage, i.e. having my movie player and movies stored, respectively, on my phone and my card so that the operating system isn't trying to access both the movie and the player at the same time on the same resource.

Please anybody let me know if this helps! I want everybody to be as happy as I am with the phone, regardless of how they feel about Verizon.

We don't want to see you so frustrated with such a great new phone, Xterraathlete. Upon more in depth review, the new Commando is one of a few phones that can't be put into Safe Mode http://vz.to/19kXzj4. You can, however, disable applications you don't use by pressing your Menu key from the home screen and selecting Manage Applications then Running. You can select an application that's running that you may not be using and then select Stop. This will help to free up the phone's memory from all the running applications that aren't actually being used and allow your phone to run smoother and avoid as many freeze ups. Applications may occasionally appear back into the running list based on phone and application updates, but you can simple check this menu once a week to lower the number of applications running.

SAME PROBLEM HERE!!!!

Have had the new one for a months now and I have to take the battery out at least 4 times a day. Can not use any alarm clocks because it freezes at night. Can not use my home automation for monitoring my smoke detectors (afraid it will be froze in event that I have a fire and am away from the home.) I am very frustrated and disappointed in my first smartphone and am considering going back to a regular phone... At least my old dumb phone was reliable as an alarm clock...

Oh wow bfd2169! I'm sad to see that your first experience with a smartphone has been a bad one. Is the phone normally freezing while using any specific task or action? If you have an antivirus installed, please remove. Did you try the steps for safe mode that JenniferH_VZW suggested? Is it still freezing in safe mode?

I have had the same frezzing screen problems. I sent the phone back and received a replacement and does the same thing. I am not impressed with this one at all.

this happens to me too. it seems like every 3-4 days. i even close the apps by swiping every day. Another problem I have found and cant seem to get any help on is down loading to my computer. I am running Windows XP still and verizon said this new phone is not supported by xp. they would look into it and get back to me..... 2 months ago.... their resolve was to take the sim card from comm gz 4g and put it in my comm gz and down load like that..... does that sound nuts ?

Let's get your phone working like it should daashadow. Is a particular app freezing? Do you receive any force close errors? Also, as Microsoft has ended support for Windows XP, we aren't able to create new software to allow phones to function on the older operating system. If you have a USB card reader for your computer that would be a good option as well to transfer data.

Ugh!! Mine still freezes. I got mine in October, supposed to do software update in November to solve this problem,the update changed nothing. Then, last weekend, another software update that made things worse!! My phone is almost unusable, I have told all my friends do not text me!! When I dropped my son off at school this morning, the time was 15 minutes off because the phone had randomly froze. I needed to pull up my calendar and check an address, I had to pull the battery 4 times before the phone would finally work! It is so slow now! After the battery is pulled, I have to wait about 15 minutes for all my standard apps to load (the button for battery save, the clock, the calendar, etc). If verizon doesn't fix this phone soon, I am leaving!!

My commando 4g even freezes with all apps closed prior to bedtime and wake up with the phone telling me its 2 am ( this is at 6:30 am)

Oh my! I can see how the freezing can be inconvenient, gatortony6. DO you notice it only freezing at night or does this happen throughout the day? After anything in particular? Let's double check your software version too, since many issues have been resolved in an update that became available this year. Please go to Settings>About Phone and let us know the Build Number listed.

My Casio Commando 4G freezes then reboots at least twice during the course of taking a shower and while running Google Music app through my Chromecast. Any Ideas why that is?
