I called customer support with these questions, and the answer I received was to try it and see what happens.  GREAT support

 

I have 2 questions:

 

 

1) Will friends and family work with blocked numbers?  For example, someone calls me from a number which has caller id blocked.  Will friends and family still work with this number when they call me?  I'm presuming (maybe I shouldn't) that it will work when I call them.

 

 

2) I have call forwarding from my house to my cell phone (my house phone is with another provider).  When the call is forwarded, the caller-id that shows on my cell phone is from the number where the call was placed.  Will friends and family recognize this call as having come from the original number, or from my house?

It baffles me how a rep couldn't answer this question if they thought logically about it and how call forwarding works in the switch.

 

Q. 1: Even if the number is blocked it will be be recognized by F&F. The switch sees the real 10 digit # even if it's blocked and doesn't transmit via caller ID. All calls are processed and billed by way of the switch, so as long as it knows the real # then you're fine.

 

Q. 2: If someone calls your home and that call then gets forwarded to your cell only your home number will be recognized by Verizon's switch. So as long as you have your home # set up as F&F then any call that's made to your home and forwarded to your cell will not count towards your airtime.
