Is anyone else having extremely slow 4G LTE/JetPack Speeds?

For about four days now my JetPack has been steadily slowing down to about 0.30 Mbps download speeds. I am in the zip code area 37203, right in the middle of downtown Nashville, TN. A co-worker is also experiencing the same issue with a different JetPack.

The issue is supposedly being "investigated" by tech support, but there are no apparent known issues with the network.

This speed is slower than the 3G service I get with my AT&T phone. Is this a common problem? Why am I paying for non-existent services?

Which Jetpack model? Have you checked the or the various Jetpack spaces or to see if anyone had a similar issue? Also the few users like with extensive knowledge of those devices tend to stick that area of the community and don't often wander to other areas unless they are mentioned like I just did here.

My device is the 890L. I am fairly certain the problem is a bandwidth issue within the network, and not the device. Friday evening I experienced an average download speed of 0.75 Mbps down and 0.2 Mbps up in the 37043 zip code area as well. On Saturday morning in the same area the speeds went to 13 Mbps down and 1.02 Mbps up. This morning in the 37203 area I just tracked 12.05 Mbps down and 1.09 up. If the trend continues, this afternoon sometime my speeds will lag to the point of being useless once again. It seems that when the traffic gets heavy during the day, the bandwidth configured in my area is not capable of keeping up. Very disappointing that I have not received word yet from the ticket # I filed with tech support.

How interesting, but not surprising that Tech support's answer is that I am in a "marginal coverage area"; incorrectly using my home address to base this on instead of the area in which I use the Verizon services. As I explicitly stated to the Customer Service rep last week, I am in the middle of downtown Nashville, TN and the 4-bar Verizon 4G LTE download speeds of 0.3 Mbps are slower than the 3G service I get from my AT&T iPhone. Were it not for the fact that I had reasonably good Verizon service until a week ago, I would be looking at cancelling this service altogether right now.

Very disappointing to say the least. The ticket has be re-opened with the correct usage area. I sincerely hope my bill is adjusted to reflect the lack of service. If this is what I can expect from now on, I will do whatever is necessary to terminate my relationship with Verizon.

Looks like a performance problem of your device in downtown Nashville. Performance problems are normally temporary and can normally be resolved by performing the various resets on a Jetpack. For example, power cycling the device, reseating the SIM card and finally performing a factory reset by pressing the reset button under the back cover.

The next time you experience the slowdown, take a moment to run off the various resets and see if they have any impact on the problem. If not then your device is faulty and should be replaced under the warranty. A place like Nashville with 4G should never be near the numbers you have posted here.

I have been experiencing the same problem as well on an iphone 5 in LTE mode all around nashville... download speeds easily under 1mbps. I thought it might be my phone but while traveling this weekend I'm gettting 20 mbps plus outside of nashville... makes me think it's on verizon's end for sure. Any one else having this problem?

It's two months later, and I'm still getting the same slowness on my iPhone 5 over LTE in Nashville (37203 down West End). It didn't use to be like this 6 months ago, and as soon as I leave the city, speeds jump back up to normal. I assume they just didn't build the infrastructure to handle everybody. At least 3G still works...

Wish I could turn my 4G off and go with 3G, but you can't on the Galaxy Note 2. I'm just hosed....stuck with an unusable phone (data-wise) from 8:00am - 6:00pm.

I have the exact same problem with many of the Droid phones on my account, the network is not functional during business hours as erather said. Not sure why I'm forking out all of this money to have no data usage whatsoever. These issues go back to June 21st (and further) and Verizon customer service has the nerve to tell me to reboot my phone and take out my SIM card like it's going to fix it. News flash Verizon. I've tried more troubleshooting than any 1 person should have to and the problem is not the device, it's your network!

The Note 2 should look for a 3G signal when 4G isn't availiable. Let's check the area. What zip code is this in? Does service improve outside?

I have a horrible time with speeds. I'm in Asheville. I've called customer service. They even called their engineering team to check the network and said there should be no service issues here. I sometimes get .5 during the day and often 2 up until around 11pm. I've been through the new Jetpack and Sim card thing. Nothing works. I pay for no real service. Oddly enough I get upload speeds of up to 7 all the time. Download speeds are aweful.

I sit outside a lot and work when there are pretty days and I have the same problem inside and outside
Speeds have gotten somewhat better. Fewer .5's but still only around 2-2.5 during business hours M-F and by about 11:30 am Sat and Sun.
I live in a neighborhood but it's just around the block from a busy highway with lots of businesses.
Problem is location specific - my home.
Did the remove sim card thing - no difference
Did the reset thing - no difference
Did the get a new sim card thing - no difference
Jetpack has been replaced once - no difference
Speeds are always better after 11pm, then they reach 9-11.

I created a thread but since this has a response from a Verizon rep I wanted to post here. I also have an 890L jet pack and I've noticed speed go down the drain during the day. At night I can pull 17Mbps down and around 4Mbps up but during the day I can barely get 1Mbps - 3Mbps down and 1Mbps up. During the day the network in my area seems to choke.

This is basically my only option for decent internet since no one cares about rural areas. It's either dial up, satellite, 3G Evdo or Lte through Verizon, no one else offers Lte here. I have the device sitting on a window with three bars of service constantly but only as long as the device is in the window. If I take it down it drops to one bar, move away a bit further and drops down to 3G then to 1x mode. Even if I step out on my deck which is by the window I get one bar of Lte or 3G but I'm not complaining much because it's still better than other options.

So it's connected to a rural tower near Montezuma, NY or Port Byron, NY. I don't think the tower is that far away, maybe 1 1/2 to 3 miles max but all towers regardless of network doesn't provide very good coverage. The towers are all by the state thruway so the antennas are likely pointed that way so anything opposite to the thruway doesn't get good signal or quality of service.

The device I have doesn't have an antenna but I don't think three bars of Lte is bad.

I’m sorry to say that this kind of service is par for the course with Verizon. They have no qualms about advertising certain speeds prefixed with “as fast as”, or showing “excellent” speed and coverage for your location when doing your homework before signing up. Then, when you’re signed up, customer service will have you spend HOURS (16 straight hours once, for me) answering the same questions 10 different ways (none of which result in poor reception) until they go home and another rep takes their place and starts all over again. If you’re lucky, they’ll offer you a signal booster that must be used with your home internet service and costs something like $200 .

It’s no wonder the FCC is invested hated their falsifying coverage maps, preventing other small companies from applying for government money to install the infrastructure needed for 4G. If it’s already there, why build it? Sinpl, because it isn’t and they lied.

Incidently, my jet pack is slower than dialup and was a complete waste of money. Thats 2 phones and a jetpack, and still can’t watch a YouTube video standing in my front yard. And yet, I’m supposed to pay for a network booster? In a major US metropolitan area? 3 blocks from a Verizon corporate store?
