I know this subject has appeared many times, which means that lots of subscribers have run into the problem. Namely, calls going directly to voice mail without ringing. I also know that Verizon is not the only service provider that has the problem. That having been said, my contract is with Verizon so my focus is with them and how they handle the issue. Yes, there can be what I will call "operator error", such as inadvertently setting up "call forwarding". For many folks however (myself included) its not a setup issue or a mechanical problem with the phone. The problem developed on its own, is sporadic in that some calls ring through and others do not, and the situation is not area code specific. At any rate I still have the problem but more importantly I believe Verizon knows at this point that there is an issue and is not coming clean about whats going on and why ? For that matter, many of the carriers are not being forthright in acknowledging that something is not performing properly. Perhaps its a capacity issue or tower issues that they cannot control. I believe that there is a lot at stake here, as the inability to provide consistent service could effectively be a valid basis for penalty free cancellation of contracts. Not that customers are seeking to drop their service, but they should have the freedom to do so if the provider is having difficulties. Anyone thoughts on how to best address the situation ?
