My new Iphone stopped playing music unless headphones are plugged in

My Iphone all the sudden stopped giving me sound alerts for messages and ringing it will only vibrate. I can not hear music through the speaker but if my headphones are plugged in everything goes through them. I have tried powering it off and rebooting it I even restored it to factory settings and it did not help anything.

Hello msdjones84! Alerts and sounds are a big thing in my house. My wife and son are all over them! You mentioned headphones in your post, and that if they're plugged in everything can be heard through them. Does that include ringtones and/or message alerts? If so, do they sound like they would normally if you could hear them without the headphones? Also, what physical condition is your iPhone in? Has it been damaged?
