Casio Commando 4G C811 Taking Fuzzy Pictures

My Commando C811 has started taking fuzzy pictures - everything is hazy, foggy looking, highlights have a glowing "halo" around them, as though the lens is dirty, but it isn't. Pics are not out of focus, and are not blurred. Like what you'd get if you breathed on the lens or it fogged due to condensation. Clear lens window is clean, clear, no condensation.

The camera has worked fine up until recently - now all photos come out this way. What is the problem, and what is the fix?

Thanks for reaching out Biggles! Is there anything covering the lens? Like a cover or a screen protector? Did this start after a software update?

Hi Joel,

Thanks for the reply - no, there is nothing in front of the lens, this is

an armored phone, so I use it as is, and the clear window in front of the

lens is clean, and not fogged or dirty inside.

As for the software update question, I have only updated the various apps I

use from Google Play, and as far as I know I have not done an update for

the phone's software since buying it new a few months ago.

biggles We want you camera to take perfect pictures! Please try and force close the camera app under settings, apps, all apps, and tap camera. Select the app and clear cache and data (if it's not greyed out) Then power cycle the device and retest.

Hi Sheritah -

Thanks for your reply, I did force close the camera, cleared the data, the

cache was empty already, then power cycled the camera. The pictures are the

same - hazy, with a glow/halo effect around the highlights, like a

soft-focus lens would produce.

I have tried changing the camera settings also, such as the autofocus,

image stabilization, scene settings, etc, to no avail - the pictures are

still fuzzy/hazy/foggy no matter what I do.

I have attached two sample pics below so you can see what I mean.

My commando 4g is doing the same thing ,followed all the same steps and didn't work. I'm going to stop by my local store tomorrow and see if thet can help? Should i return my device?

Hi firebiker -

I reset my phone and I can't tell if the pics are better or not, but some

seem better than others for sure. Oddly, the best pics are from the

secondary camera on the front of the phone, i.e. "selfies". They are

definitely sharper, more natural looking color, and less grainy or "noisy"

than the pics taken with the regular primary camera on the back of the

phone. Go figure. I don't know where to go with it from here, but the pics

are inferior to my 3G commando.

I used an eye glasses lens cleaning towelette that had alcohol in it to clean my lens when the pictures got foggy. Use some magnification when you look at the outside of the lens/cover to inspect.

I'm not a representative of Vz or Casio but I have stayed at a holiday inn express.... a long time ago....

I am having the same problem with my 3g commando. I was going to post a topic but found this one thru search. Funny thing is with mine.....if I watch the screen when it's taking the picture, the picture screen comes into focus and then at the last 1/4 of a second right before it snaps, it goes back out of focus and gives me nothing but hazy, cloudy, NOT crisp pictures. Any fix yet Verizon or Casio???????

Try a different camera app like LG camera.

iis your Casio an android phone? don't pay attention to the name. just go to the market and try it, or another camera app.

I have the same problem. I have the Commando 4G LTE - when I hold the camera lens under a desk lamp, I can see a film on the inside of the camera lens cover. This is a phone issue - not a software issue.

I thought this phone was supposed to be moisture resistant?

Insurion doesn't want to cover it because it was not dropped or gotten wet. I had the phone in a really humid environment and ever since, the camera images are completely useless.

Trying to get Verizon extended warranty to replace it.

Certain credit cards, for example AMEX might have extended your warranty by a year. Depending upon how you paid for the device, you may have extended coverage already through the manufacturer.

Yeah - if the ultimate issue is fogging behind the lens and in front of the imaging sensor, I don't think any form of SW modification or reset is going to help you.
