I have performed a backup from my iPhone 5 using Verizon's backup assistant. I would like to delete everything that has been backed up and start over. Any suggestions?

Bad response. There are no directions on how to delete and start over. My backup assistant has January 1 for 50 peoples birthdays and I want to delete those records.
