Ghost contacts

My Motorola Droid HD has been doubling the contact list. Same people, same phone number, but like a doppleganger. I really only have about 600+ contacts, but then it jumps to over a 1000 with the repeats. I don't know if it's an Android issue or a Verizon issue. What's going on, and how do I stop it??

Let's see what we can do to address and resolve your concerns about your contacts, daggercat. How are you backing up your contacts? Verizon Cloud or via Google. If you have both options selected that could explain the doubling of your contacts. Please provide me with a few more details.

I have back ups through VZ, but Google is so insidious, they're probably

doing it too. How do I check that?

Great question, daggercat! You can go to this link http://bit.ly/1n3uTzM and see that your contacts are being backed up. Also if you go online to Verizonwireless.com then My Verizon and manage & store media. You can view your contacts there.
