New text not on top of new messages

Wondering why when I receive a new text message from someone who had text me in the past, the message does not show on "top" of my text messages, but down in the chronological order of the last time that person text me.  So I will receive the message, and show I have one message, but when I open text it is not the top message.  I have to sroll down through all messages to find which one was unread and there will be the new text.  Note: This is fairly new issue.  Ive had the phone awhile and this has only recently started happening.

What type of phone do you have?  Most of the time the recent text is on the bottom of the screen right above the place for your message.  Make sure you are scrolled to this position back out of the message and back in (it should go to the mot recent text every time you open it but it's worth a shot).
