Moto X display blinking

For the past few days, my Moto X has had a very weird display problem - every minute or so, it briefly (like .25 second) goes black, then recovers. It happens both on the home screen and when any app is running. Changing the brightness settings, as I've seen suggested elsewhere, doesn't help. It happens in safe mode as well, which tells me it's a hardware or OS (non-rooted) issue I am NOT interested in doing a hard reset, so nobody even suggest it (I've never seen that help any issue on any of my previous phones anyway). Any other Moto X owners seen this behaviour?

Hi coinneachfitzpatrick,

I apologize that your having issues with the screen display going black on your device. This issue is common on some devices as it is trying to conserve on the battery. I know you mentioned the display settings for brightness, However, have you checked the screen timeout setting? Here's a link for more details http://vz.to/1iLsbz3. There's a setting for 30 seconds and you can select a higher one to test it out.

I know how annoying glitches like that can be HollyNichols! Do you have more than one email address set up on your phone? Does it do this for all email accounts, or a specific one?
