Petition for KitKat on S4, Note 3, LG G2 (4.4 update)

Now that all other US carriers have KitKat on the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Galaxy Note 3, and the LG G2, Verizon has left is in the cold. They haven't even stated that we would get Kitkat ever! The only information we have from Verizon is them touting that the S4 doesn't have KitKat compared to the new S5! Samsung Galaxy S 5: How Does It Compare to the S III and S 4? That's right. There using something we should be entitled to and trying to sell it to us again!

Not this time, Verizon. Sign this petition by replying to voice your opinion and tell Verizon to give us KitKat!

I think that Verizon should at least give us a date as to when we will get the KitKat update. Verizon, whatever you do, please do NOT give us the normal reply of "check out these sites for more information. they are always updated". I have checked them out and they have NO information about when the S4 will get the KitKat update. Here is a breakdown of when the other US carriers updated their Samsung Galaxy S4:

Sprint started the KitKat update on 2/13/2014

US Cellular started the KitKat update on 2/19/2014

AT&T started the KitKat update on 2/28/2014

T-Mobile started the KitKat update on 3/10/2014

Even the Google Play Edition of the Galaxy S4 was updated to KitKat starting on 11/26/2013 (yes 2013)

It has been exactly one month since the last US carrier (T-Mobile) started pushing out the KitKat update. We just want to know if we are going to get this update since according to Samsung, you have had the update since last year.

My money is still on them to wait until the S5 is released, so the Kitkat update won't affect the sales numbers. When it finally does come out I'm going to write down every issue I have and call customer un-service and demand some credit on my bill. They're other providers willing to pay the early cancellation fees just to get our business. That's the only real way to get the message to Verizon.

I think it is rediculous It takes Verizon so long to update. They act like they are number one but for updates and support they are DEAD LAST! You pay over 600 for a phone and they can't even update it on time knowing that the life of a phone is only about a year now before the next version is released.

I just hink they put too much bloadware that no one wants that screws up the timelines for the updates. Verizon has already skipped one version so far on the note 3.

This is totally ridiculous Every other one released and we don't even have any word at all from big red.

Speak with your $$ people. If you are as unhappy as I am over Verizon not releasing KitKat then don't sign up again when your contract is up. There are 3 other major carriers. Give them your business instead of Verizon. When someone asks your opinion of Verizon then bring up this gem.

I see other people complaining over Verizon yet they are repeat customers. If you have been screwed over by Verizon in this fashion before then why are you returning to them. All I can think here is "Thank you sir may I have another?".

I am a brand new Verizon customer for only 3 weeks so I can honestly say I didn't know Verizon treated customers like this. I will not be returning however. I am going to speak with my $$. This is the only way companies like this will listen...when we as customers affect Verizon's stock market value and Verizon's stock holders take notice. Then and only then will Verizon listen to us.

Who cares about all the money we spend to help you upgrading your network to make you more money. You care about getting more customers to get more money and say hahahah to loyal users. I happen to agree with many of the points mentioned here, but the problem is the points are isolated at devices not receiving the KitKat update. By Verizon not providing us with KitKat and not providing us with a reason they have simply isolated their problem. They don’t have to worry about us, or care if we are unhappy with them, or if we want to switch carriers, it doesn’t mean anything to them. They’re in business to make money, watch profits increase, no matter what costs are as long as they do whatever they can to achieve the goal of making more money.

Besides it costs money to provide updates, why should Verizon provide them, Verizon has to have software developers work on OS’s like KitKat to make them work, and of course push them via OTA with their servers which again costs money. Why should Verizon do that when they’ve already gotten our one time investment of $600+ on a device? For Verizon it makes more sense to not provide an update and release a couple of new devices in the $600+ price that already have KitKat, that way if we really want KitKat that bad, maybe we’ll just pay for it. Remember Verizon is in the money making business, more money greater profits.

Besides, one other thing that I would like to mention, with the contract and data wars that are taking place right now. Have you noticed that Verizon seems to be more of “follower” rather than a “leader” that’s again because, it’s the green their chasing, we are not customers we are dollars to them. I’m definitely leaving Verizon, I will be switching to AT&T.

I think manufacturers should take back software updates and do it like Apple. That's probably the only thing I like about the iPhone (currently using G2) is that Apple lets everyone download the update when it is available. I've never had to worry about this type of issue before because I was an iPhone user so updates were always current for me. The only thing is that VZW has taken some camera functions off the G2 that I didn't know about until I was looking at LG's website. I was like, I don't have that setting. It made me a little mad but I don't really use a lot of them anyway. It would be nice to get updated like the rest of the world.

Dude, you can't really (removed) think they just aren't gonna update us. They did this with the S3 when the S4 was released. They wait to update the older model until after the new one is released to prevent direct competition and, in turn, not lose customers who would have upgraded to the S5.

Apple WAITS until all their devices are ready for the update. They also use their own servers for all updates. Something that ONLY Nexus and GPE do with Google.

It's a placebo effect if you think all the updates from Apple happens all at the same time. One update could be ready for months and Apple will hold onto it until the others are ready.

If you ever did the ADC program you'll notice sometimes they'll stop updating CDMA versions and keep going with GSM versions or vise verse in the change logs.

I guess it nice of Apple to make everyone wait the same time period.

That's kind of my point. Apple keeps control of their devices. No carrier can install bloatware or piecemeal the features they want or don't want. I just can't use the iPhone any longer. It's a little too small after having the G2. Plus I hate the Facebook application on iOS.

Yes give us Kit Kat. This is a part of VZW strategy and definitely a decision that is more company focused rather than customer focused. They do not want this release to impact their sales with S5 launch. so VZW typical.

VZW is currently screwing S3/S4 owners...so I am more than expecting them to screw G2 owners cause we are not far from the G3 announcement.

First off, I created this forum account just to sign this. I had no idea it existed until 15 minutes ago. But I have been dealing with this issue since early February. I went into two different stores and spoke with at least (2) employees at each location in reference to this. Every single one of them responded with the same response which leads me to believe it has been scripted for months. Maybe rehearsed in staff meetings even. They all told me that "even though other carriers have released it, Verizon wants to take a few weeks and let any bugs that the update may have get resolved before being released to such a large consumer base such as ours. More than likely those carriers will have to re-issue the corrected update in a short time which will upset the users more. Verizon wants nothing but the best to our loyal customers."

Once I heard this from the guys at a separate location more than (3) miles away, I knew it was rehearsed. Anyways I returned in late March about (3) weeks ago. To those same stores and spoke with the same employees. They didn't remember me, but I did them. At this point all of there answers were now scattered and unsure saying things like "we have been told that it is just a few days away" while others said they haven't heard anything in weeks. So I decided that last week when then s5 rolled out, to head into my local store and ask one more time. still nothing.

I absolutely hate Verizon for not only taking an unnecessarily long time to release the update, but also failing to make a public statement about the update! I can't believe there's any legitimate excuse for this taking so long. By the time we have KitKat, phones will be launching with the next OS version! Verizon should at least offer those of us that signed a two year contract (still have a year left) right before the announcement of Edge the option of switching to Edge right now. If the only way to stay current is to update every six months then give us the option. You're no Big Red. More like Little Red Riding Hood. I wish I could sign more than once!

The fact that my phone bill is higher than half of my other bills to me is unjustified. Verizon has the highest rates of any carrier and we all know that. They are the largest company with the most people, so the delay to me is not for any other reason than money. I'm glad the public is finally standing up to and demanding answers though. This blame game they always played is finally over. Seeing these other carriers across the world getting 4.4 especially on the lg g2 clearly shows where the wait is. Verizon is a very dictator type company in the end. I say that while sitting here looking at all this added Verizon bloat and missing settings on my lg g2. They should really try ruling the air like they claim and not our phones and how we use them. We could really use LTE boosters for their crowded network but that's another story.

Not that verizon would listen to this message but give me kit kat!! First you took away a bunch of features from my g2...now this..the service is great, but not customer relations. Get it in gear for this monster of a phone.

You think I would have learned after going through this before with another phone. But no, I had to give them another chance. I should have just said (removed) you Verizon and been done with it. You already took my unlimited data, now you don't upgrade my phone. Again. I used to recommend Verizon, now when people ask about it I just shrug my shoulders.

Verizon needs to pay attention to what customers are demanding! This falls under customer support and ignoring the fact that it's customers want a timely update for their phones is not too much to ask! I would have done the download update on my G2, if it wasn't for the fact I'd no longer be able to load Verizon updates to the operating system! Come on Verizon, get your head out of your nether regions and give us the update!

Verizon know they own us. I have been a customer for over 10 years. And in the past 3 or so years, the customer service and care have taken a significant dive. Unbelievable, regardless of loyalty they don't care as long as you are paying your bill. I have been working on buying my phones out of contract, I am down to 3 from 5. But would like to have the KitKat update for my Note.

In my past resent experience with customer service, they did finally reconcile a major complaint and after much effort and lost time on the phone and with me pretty much begging for help. I couldn't believe how many times I was told... "Sorry there's nothing I can do" " Is there anything else I can help you with?" AHH! "Okay then, have a great day and thank you for choosing Verizon"

I feel that the delay with KitKat is associated with marketing and getting more money from the customer or to lure new customers etc... Beware

There's too many other options out there - Shop, don't sign a long term contract -

Got 5 lines and will be leaving by the end of this year. 4 years with Verizon and kinda got tired of the constant last to receive anything. First they didn't carry the Samsung galaxy line and when they did they were last to release any device and now finally for the first time ever the S5 came out the same time as other carriers but we're suffering to be last to receive updates. It's married to someone you hate and always come up with excuses for their misbehaves. We're tired of it Verizon. Seriously make some changes in your management structure and fire the laggers the old fashioned against new things and hire new blood to stay competitive. Other wise as you know you will join names like Kodak, Nokia, BlackBerry. Adiós

That's a FACT! CRAP! Not only do they not warn you, but on the GS4's most of the apps you use to read/write to your microSD card will NO LONGER work. You will no longer be able to store MANY MANY files on your SD card.

This is not a bug, but rather a strategic move for safety (they claim). I spend two days trying to figure out why all of a sudden many files disappeared and apps just did not work. I also started to get suspicious when my wife's GS4, which got the KitKat update at the same time, had the exact same problems. Some good Apps (paid for) no longer work. Our phones crashed because it took some of that data and dumped it on the local storage and FILLED the card up in a few seconds.

Ditto. Crap! Don't do it. Demand a change or a fix. If I wanted a phone like that I'd get an fn iPhone?

That was Google's doing... Google it... This was said multiple times SINCE 4.4 was released, and people were warning people said it was coming since Honeycomb on Tablets.
