Razr Maxx Frustration

Hello All,

I need some advice. I have had my phone for just over 2 years now and I have hated my phone for the last 1 year and 9 months. I have factory reset it about 3 times and receiveda replacement phone from verizon just under a year ago. I continue to have the same problems. I only have 5 added appsthat I have installed. My phone freezes on the home screen probably 3 times a day. My key board will start typing numbers instead of letters and when I go to text someone is freaks out and turns itself off. My phone also has a habit of calling my mom's cell phone when I am asleep around 2 am. Lately it wont responded when I try to end a call, turn it from sleeping to awake, when I try to enter my password, or open the camera, or open text messages. I have an app killer, Norton virus on it as well and all sweeps show its clean. My last factory reset was last week and it did not help. It takes anywhere from 5 seconds to a minute for my phone to respond to simple touches and then it will freeze and say "such isn't responding, force quite such?" I do not have the funds to buy a new phone, nor think I should have to just because my phone is two years old. I have called the support center and all they say is to factory reset. I have done this so much I have lost contact info many times because the cloud backup they told me to use constantly fails. I am beyond frustrated and have started keeping my phone at home. It is not a smart phone! Any help or advice would be welcomed.

Is it running Jelly Bean?

I might recommend you download two programs.

1). Advanced Task Manager. Run it. Select each of the programs you can and try moving them to the SD card (if the button allows it). This will free up memory.

2). 1Tap Cache Cleaner. Run it. Clear the caches.

In addition:

Every few days, power down your phone and power it back up.

If you have a boat load of files on your card (or if they are stored in phone memory), get rid of what you don't use / access

Clear out old Text Messages

Clear out old Email Messages

At just over two years, then one would think you are eligible for a new phone, yes?

Get rid of the app killer "app". Android manages itself quite nicely, and I'm willing to bet the app killer is what is causing the issues you describe.

Once a week (or whatever schedule seems to work to keep the phone running well) you can do a system cache clear. I run one whenever the phone seems to feel sluggish and unresponsive. I can provide the steps, or you can search the boards here - it's been posted many times.

I have the Advance Task Manager- I use it a few times a day. I also have clean the cache twice daily. I gave a family member my upgrade because theirs took a swim, and I think it is rediculous to have to pay $30 just to upgrade a phone (a new policy verizon has implemented). I am tempted to downgrade back to old school nokia or flip phone... one with snake haha!

I'm not recommending to kill apps, just move what is possible out of phone memory.

We never asked what those 5 apps were. :smileyhappy:

If those apps are not loaded, does the device work properly? Maybe an alternative to one of those 5 is another possibility.

I do clean the cache via system setting 1-2 times daily without the app killer (Advance Task Manager).
