KitKat and Galaxy S4 Texting Problems

Ever since I updated my Galaxy S4 to KitKat 4.4.2 I have been having problems with texting, Sometimes sending a text works and other times it says "failed to send message" once it fails to send a text no matter how long I wait the phone will not send or receive messages the only way to fix it is to restart the phone or turn on airplane mode then turn it off. Is this an issue with KitKat or is this a phone issue?

SAme problem here. All of a sudden since updating my phone, text failures left and right, from places just before the update had zero issues. It is not a coverage issue but some sort of interface of the newly updated phone and the carrier. Super annoying! Try making plans when your texts have to be babysat or resent 2 hours later. Fix this sh*t already!!!

same issue here. they sent me a new phone and its still doing it. seems like a widespread issue with the amount of threads

I'm having the same issue since I upgraded to 4.4.2. Hard to believe Verizon isn't addressing it since it's a pervasive issue that's effecting a large number of people. Once the contract is up, I'm switching to another carrier. Had it with Verizon's lack of support on this.

Are all you guys using third party messaging apps? I just updated my S4 for 4.4.2 (Same on you got) a few days ago and I am using the stock messaging app and have no problems sending SMS and MMS files.

Galaxy S4 for Verizon, same dumb problem. Texts rarely go through. Have to keep on restarting the phone and still it sometimes doesn't work. I've done everything possible to fix this. I am tired of being on hold with customer service for HOURS!!!! Release a patch to fix the damn problem! I refuse to pay my bill until the update fixes it! I am also not getting 4G at all and the 3G is usually out too now..

I had been having the same texting problem with my Droid Razr HD ... I downloaded the free Verizon Messaging app from the Play Store and selected it as my default messaging app. Everything seems to be working fine now!

I've been dealing with this same issue of my texts failing to send and having to restart my phone or turn airplane mode on and off all day everyday for months now since the last update its extremely frustrating. I've been searching for a real solution for months reading multiple different topics here and else where with thousands of people complaining about the same thing since the last update. Version customer service asks everyone to do the same stupid procedures to try and verify the problem. WE ALL KNOW IT WAS FROM THE UPDATE!... Yet no acknowledgement from the company why? Probably because the new s5 comes out in a few months and they probably just assume if we ignore these people long enough a large percentage will just buy a brand new phone to negate the issues they were having a win win for verizon they dont have to spend money to fix something they messed up and people end up giving them more money just so they can send a damn text message.
