It doesn't matter if I am charging, talking, or if there are apps open it gets so hot that I am scared its going to burn me. Does anyone have any idea why it does this? My boyfriends galaxy s4 doesnt do this so we are confused as to why mine does it
Even if all your radios were active (WiFi, BT, NFC, Cellular) and cranking data, your device shouldn't get that hot that it feels like it will burn you. Warm maybe.
I suggest you take it to a corporate store and show someone. Seems to me you need a new battery. Ask for one at the store. If you can't get one gratis, they are like $10 or $11 on Amazon.
Get only an OEM battery for your phone.

I have the same problem since the KitKat update. I have three separate OEM batteries - they all overheat.
