E-mail authentication failed on Samsung 4 mini

I am trying to set up my verizon e-mail account on my Samsung 4 mini. I am using the exact setting used on my computer. However after inputing the e-mail address and password I receive this message…. unable to connect to server ERR (AUTH) authentication failed. I have looked over all the setting and rechecked.. still receive this message. Any help or is this a verizon rep. issue that I need to call.

You may need to go into advanced settings and manually enter the incoming and outgoing server information. I found this on the Residential/FIOS forum:

Server information:

Incoming mail (POP3): incoming.verizon.net

Outgoing mail (SMTP): outgoing.verizon.net

Server Port numbers:

Incoming mail (POP3): 995

Outgoing mail (SMTP): 465

Thanks SuzyQ .. I did enter the server info for incoming…. never got to the outgoing…. Still having problems… Guess I'll have to call…. Thanks again

I had the same exact problem and went to the verizon website and found a step-by-step there. The short answer is that if your verizon email goes through one of Verizon's partners such as Yahoo, AOL or MSN, then the incoming and outgoind ports are like SuzyQ said but with one crucial addition: You have to put the partner name between "incoming" and "verizon." For me, "incoming.yahoo.verizon.net" and "outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net" worked. (You also pick SSL security.) Everything after that worked effortlessly.
