Receiving and sending duplicate messages since update

I updated my phone on Saturday, 8/9/14, and since then many of my messages are sensing twice and I am receiving messages twice. It doesn't happen every time but almost every time! It is extremely annoying. I have not downloaded any new apps and use the messaging app that came on my phone. Please figure out what is wrong and fix it.

Having the exact same problem with my Samsung GS3 (with Android 4.4.2). But I'm using the Verizon Messages app, not the built-in Messenging app. So this must be an overall problem with Verizon and not related to a specific app.

Android Version: 4.4.2

Software update check: No update needed

Messaging Application used: Message+

Preinstalled Messaging Application: Turned off

Have tried multiple forums for assistance, considering changing carrier if not corrected.

Thanks for the details, and your hard work! We would never want to see you leave. When did this issue start on the device? Is it certain contacts that are duplicating or all? Have you factory wiped the device in an attempt to resolve the issue?

Sadly, this issue is likely not going to be one individual users can nail down. I have found this problem being reported all over the place for the past week or so, but the only thing in common is Verizon's cellular service. People use different apps, it happens at different times, some people only have it happen with certain contacts or some all contacts, etc. The generic and unhelpful "perform a factory reset" instruction is, as normal, useless in this circumstance, except to cause hours of inconvenience in setting the phone up again. It would be great if a Verizon network engineer could check into the issue and find out why it's so widespread and what people can do, if anything, to stop having this issue.
