Anyone else displeased with Verizon?

Is there anyone else out there who is extremely displeased that after paying Verizon thousands of dollars for bad service they now refuse to unlock my Razr Maxx phone so I can use it on another network where I can actually receive calls? Motorola says my phone will work on AT&T's network and all I need is for Verizon to give me the unlock code. One Verizon employee told me the phone is not locked. At a Verizon store I was told they simply do not unlock phones. Maybe it is just ignorance! Their attitude and actions cause me not to be surprised that on visiting three AT&T stores and two Verizon stores yesterday there was hardly anyone in the Verizon stores and standing room only in the AT&T stores? Duh!

Unlocking a device for use on another USA carrier is not going to happen. The cell carriers did agree to do it in 2015 but the hoops and qualyfers to do it are just to restrictive.

Even if you could do it functionality on the other networks may be little to no use.

AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM. Sprint uses a different version of 3G CDMA not like Verizon's CDMA technology.

The number of devices unlocked for use outside the USA are just for that. Outside in another country not for use here.

And AT&T depending where you live doesn't have lines out the door as you mentioned. Verizon still has the top spot of number one in the industry. Not bad for a company that came into the cellular market after AT&T (Cellular One, Cingular)

Have you tried putting an AT&T sim in the Razr Maxx? That's the only way to know for sure. You can find them cheap online or maybe the AT&T store will let you try one of theirs.

I am not sure what Elector is talking about with no carriers unlocking for US use until 2015. I'm currently using a Verizon iPhone 5S and a Verizon Galaxy S4 on an AT&T MVNO. Both were unlocked out of the box. The GS4 just doesn't get LTE which I knew going in.

A quick google search told me the Razr Maxx is only unlocked for non-US sims. I still think Verizon fully unlocks newer LTE phones.

Your phone is selling now on swappa.com for somewhere between $105.00 and $140.00. I suggest you sell it there and you can turn around and spend that money on the at&t or other carrier of your choice, I have sold many phones on swappa and I have also purchased phones there with out issue. They check all the phones IMEI numbers out to make sure they are phones that age good to go on the carrier. The nice thing about doing this is you don't end up with a contract with a carrier and in many cases somewhat less cost to your for the service they provide. From what I have seen existing customers of most providers get little or no customer service. You are best off to not deal with those phone stores unless you have to deal with them or their web sites as well. I have learned to do most of what I need for myself and I am very satisfied with the phone service I get on VZW it works where I live and the places I frequent when I travel. Neither at&t or TMOB work where I live. We have one other local carrier that will work here but when I travel and get to far away from my home I am paying roaming charges. As far as those other carrier stores having customers waiting in line out the door, don't know where you live but I don;'t see that happening around here or when I travel. You must have mistaken the carrier stores for a Wal Mart or some other store.

There are those, however, on these forums who have reported they have used a SIM from another US carrier in a Verizon phone in order to use the phone on a different US carrier. Keep in mind, you would not have full functionality as the 4G networks used by the different providers are not compatible. The most you would hope to get is a 3G data connection.

I have read at the T-Mobile Forums of certain devices being used as you stated with limited service on AT&T in particular the Apple iPhone 5

I have also read on AT&T and T-Mobile that again the Apple iPhone 5s from Verizon Wireless can function with limited service. Sprint however I read works no place other than on their own network.

What is sad is that I just switched from Sprint to Verizon on Thursday, May 8, 2014. I did so after being a long time Sprint customer who finally could not take the poor customer and cellular service anymore. Unfortunately, after only an hour into becoming a Verizon customer this is my story:

The problem started while attempting to transfer over the third of my five phones from Sprint to Verizon at my local Apple store. Verizon apparently decided that after porting/transferring two phones, an investigation into possible fraud apparently needed to be conducted. Why I do not know, since two phones transferred without a question? Why I can understand that fraud is certainly a huge concern, Verizon fails to truly follow-up immediately on their suspicions of fraud while it is occurring, only telling the customer that Verizon will contact them within 72 hours. This is very confusing and frustrating for us legitimate and new customers with multiple lines to transfer! I even went a step further the following day (today) and tried to get assistance by going into a Verizon corporate store and providing both state and government identification. My government identification was displayed for not only my billing discount but also in hopes of helping assist me to clear things up when I called the fraud department, thinking this would help clear up any confusion and expedite the rest of my phone transfers, boy was I wrong! The next course of action taken was to call the fraud department. This did not get me anywhere, as they could care less about the fact that I was a legitimate customer and not an alleged criminal. So here I sit paying two different service carriers and now second guessing my decision to switch carriers. This certainly is not the way to impress and retain a new customer. The sad thing is that I paid for my phones in full and have no contract obligation, yet I am still unable to port all my numbers over because I am apparently committing fraud? Come on Verizon, I have gone out of my way to prove my identity and you could care less about that? I certainly hope that someone reads this and considers making changes that are beneficial to your non-criminal customers!

Kind of makes a family plan kind of non workable. Verizon wants your business but if you want to use a family say of four or more, you are marked as fraudulent. I would say very stupid on their parts.

I have read that Sprint and T-Mobile have this issue after four lines. It would seem any number of additions after four triggers an alert. Normally if your standing in the store it can be overridden.

Sometimes the stop on adding lines is due to credit checks. I can tell you that I have read here such fraud holds have caused many to be without service for a great length of time.

You could simply just port out of Verizon return the devices to Apple and when Verizon asks why you are terminating service tell them you did not want to leave but your fraud department just stopped you from adding or porting out your other lines.

I am glad to see that this form is being monitored and replies are being sent out by Verizon customer service reps. With that said, it certainly would be nice if my concerns is addressed, especially since I am still waiting to be contacted. Maybe you can help with this matter, before I decide the aggravation is just not worth it.

I am displease with Verizon, and I with them for 13+ year. They took away the phone upgrade discount, and etc. The phone functions taken away, and lock out the hotspot and tethering and etc. Too expensive on monthly sercive charge and everything. WHAT CAN I DO? Nothing... They have the best Signal..

Verizon is a rename of BellSouth.

All Verizon employees were BellSouth employees the day before the rename.

All BellSouth employees were AT&T employees the day before the government managed breakup.

Hence, we are dealing with a Former AT&T division.

Well let's see, before Verizon changed their name they were all mostly regional bell systems across the country.

In my neck of the country they were Bell Telephone-NYNEX-Bell Atlantic all part of the original phone company.

AT&T was also the bell system however they went bankrupt twice, southwestern bell (original part of the bell telephone system country wide) bought them out.

Cellular One, changed their name to singular and when they were bought out by Southwestern Bell this company decided to change the stores name to the more popular name of AT&T.

Many other smaller telephone companies and paging companies and smaller wireless companies have been purchased by these larger companies.

I did look into the new plan, but I am heavlly depended on wireless, since I am a road worrior. One smart phone, 2 basic phone, and 1 mifi3g (has it for more than 5 years), the S4 was replacing the HTC Increditble (has it for 5 years finally broke). the mifi is unlimited data. Due to seasonal usage, may be up to 9 GB usage from certian month. The Everything plan is about $190 without tax. so it is the same thing I am paying now, but only with 10 GB.

I figure it is still best to keep my Umlimited mifi 3g, until it broke. I cannot use 4 GB on the smartphone only, so there is no hotspot and tethering on it.

May I suggest Verizon give out special deal for loyal customers?

Would a Verizon phone work for AT&T? I thought Verizon was CDMA and AT&T is GSM? So it shouldn't matter if you have their Sim card or not should it?

No first hand knowledge...but I was told that a 4G phone of many manufacturers will work on VZN and AT&T. Seems that many new 4G phones come equipped with 3 or 4 Transceivers - covering the cell phone spectrum. Special features of one service provider may NOT work with other providers. Phone calls, texting, most web interactions should work just fine on some of the newer phones. I suspect that you should just go to an AT&T store and ask to test a SIM card.

I tried it. Verizon S4 work with ATT SIM card. Word of caution, Do NOT put the Verizon SIM in other company's phone. Otherwise, the Verizon SIM will loss some functions. Then you have to call customer service to reset it. Verizon SIM can detect if it is inseted in phone other than Verizon brand.

I know, when I got it 6 months ago, I played with that with my co-worked ATT phone. Also, the Verizon S4 can change to other sigle than CDMA, it is an international ready phone after all.

If Verizon is SO worried about there Customer Care they would work on their service. I have tried to due a trouble shoot problem 3 times. Still getting the FULL RUN around!!!!!. I am sooo sorry I switched to yall, The company doesn't follow thru, I get oh well so sorry it works on our end. BUT I still don't have service and was told I would when I switched. Oh and the Best Part I was trying to add internet to my account and couldn't due to the ADDRESS was wrong on Yall end was wrong and when I call to get it corrected OMG they tried to tell me i didn't know my on zip code. I have lived here 11 years and I had yall service before BUT DUE TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE I CHANGED!!!!!!!!! I should have learned from the first mistake. OMG. We live in a World were OH CUSTOMER SERVICE is so important but the company gets so BIG you are just a pay check. And they do not care because some SUCKER is around the corner to sign up. I am so disappointed. I was really hoping when I signed up VERIZON would be a step up from the rest. But they are nothing but a company that sees the dollar and the customer doesn't count. SO sad!!!!!
