new contacts disappear

i am having trouble since i got this phone saving new contacts. they just disappear. I do not use google as my primary account and dont know if this is related. I have tried with sync on or off and it does not seem to matter. They just wont stay in my list. Any ideas?

I have an Android Maxx. It looks like it is using verizonwireless.com/backupassistant and it has a recurring sync set on. But Verizon cloud is not installed (I followed the link on the backup assistant). I don’t really care if they are backed up on the cloud. But I don’t understand why they keep disappearing from my contacts on my phone. This is really bad and whatever is doing it is not programmed correctly. I am storing my contacts in the contact icon on the phone.

Are the contacts that are disappearing from a particular email account or application (example Facebook)? When the contacts disappear how do get the contacts to re-appear? When did this issue start? Keep me posted.

The contacts never reappear. I set up the phone with a roadrunner account and later added a google account. It does not seem to be able to sync contacts to the roadrunner account and that may be the problem. But I would think if the sync fails it should not delete the contacts from my phone. The contacts are just gone from the contacts icon on my phone. This issue has been true from day one when I started using the phone. I was able to import contacts in the beginning and those are the only ones that stick.

I could try adding some of them to roadrunner and see if they appear on the phone. I think the problem is one of the software logic in the syncing that deletes the contacts from the phone before the sync.

Also when I try to make it sync with either Google or Roadrunner I get an error message the Sync is currently experiencing problems. I tried adding a contact to roadrunner but then the sync did not work.

I used to use Backup Assistant years ago and have tried it once or twice in the past few months to see if anything has changed and sure enough, it has only gotten worse. Backup Assistant is the worst backup app I have ever seen. It has a mind of its own, will back up some contacts, and leave others behind. It will backup some and merge 2 or 3 together so I do not know whose number is whose, it will trash contacts at will and transpose numbers in both phone and addresses. It will drop second phone numbers or notes you may have with the contact. I have also used Google as my contact storage and every number is backed up immediately on putting it into my phone. The numbers are correct and never messed with regardless of how many numbers a contact has associated to them. It never loses addresses or combines them and if I have to change devices by the time I am done setting the device up, my contacts are all back on my phone.

I will never use anything else for contact backup again especially not the Verizon Products as they are just inferior to anything else out there.

Do yourselves a favor and change to Google. You will be much happier.
