Have Galaxy S4 and email started not syncing yesterday. Checked sync setting and box is checked, but it is stating that the Master Sync has been turned off, I did not do anything to emails to cause this. What should I do to fix this?
Slide the notification bar down and ensure that Sync is turned on. If you don't have the toggle visible, click the overflow menu (the four squares) in the upper right-hand corner

Tony, thank you for asking this question. This happened to me yesterday and after spending 40 minutes on the phone with Verizon tech, they said I needed to call my email carrier. My sync was turned on in all places but the notification bar (with the 4 squares). So, thank you for asking and thank you tikibar1 for resolving the problem that Verizon could not.
