I just received a letter stating that my Blackberry 8830 World Edition as of November 15 2009 will not work in Canada or Mexico. It also tells me I have two options buy new equipment (I am assuming at retail value) or rent an international phone. Since I'm still relatively early in my Alltel contract, I will not be able to purchase a discounted phone by extending my contract for almost 9 months after November 15th date. What a catch 22.
To me this seems like Verizon is breaking their contract with me. Services that I expected to have signed the contract will no longer be an option. If I were to break my contract I would be hit with a large fee. I'm pretty sure Verizon has no plans to live up to the same standard they would expect from me.
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions for me.
