Has anyone been experiencing significant battery loss since the Kit-Kat update? My battery used to last all day till 10 or 11 at night and now it wont go 4 to 5 hours without needing a charge. I have hard reset it twice to no avail.
Galaxy S3 user here.
Exact same thing happened to me. Ever since the update, I'll randomly go from 80% battery to the phone shutting off for no reason. When I try to turn the phone on, it tells me 0% or 1% battery remaining and shuts down again. The moment I plug it it, it reads out 30 or 40% charged. That only happens when I use apps though, so the phone is only slightly bricked by this update.
When the phone is idling, the battery will get me maybe 6 hours or so.
Having the exact same issue. My phone loses 60% with little or no use within the first 4-5 hours after removing it from the chargers. I have set the brightness to almost nothing clear the cache constantly and do not wish to factory reset this phone since I just received it not long ago.
I suggested this in the other thread about a GS4 with battery life issues.
Told a friend with a GS3 to remove the battery for 5-10 minutes. Put back in and restart the phone. He went from charging his GS3 daily to needing to charge every 2 days. So it's worth a shot. Other people online mention clearing cache, but if the pulling the battery doesn't work, just search on how to clear your cache.
I have the exact same issue and countless others since the KitKat update. Have hard reset twice and still no fix. Other issues include battery overheating constantly, 4G, 3G and phone signal drop off, widgets on screen disappear when app gets updated, etc. etc. I have seen all the Verizon responses and not one person has come back and said "hey, thanks Verizon, problem fixed!" And the Verizon customer support reps keep pretending that each person has some unique problem with the exact same ineffectual problem resolution steps. Really, Verizon, when are you going to issue a fix? My phone is now like a land line that I am worried might start a house fire.
Scoobyshack, every issue is very unique to us. We're stepping in to put that fire out. Did you download 3rd party applications to your phone? If so, some application software can conflict with the software update. Have you tried running your device in Safe Mode? http://vz.to/1m8Mjg4LasinaH_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
