Just got back from overseas and saw an update available. Upon installing it rebooted and now the phone is stuck at the Samsung Galaxy Note II Gt-N7100 start screen, flashes and just loops. Nothing I have tried seems to work!
So after my 30 minute trip to Best Buy, the guy gave it a really good try to fix, but in the end he stated he was unable to fix it, must be hardware issue. He said it seems like the partitions on the phone are blown and he has nothing that can fix that. He said the download works, but he cannot flash anything, and he could not get into recovery, it looked like it was gone.
He guessed that the update must have gone to flash and somehow failed in the middle of a write, but he has always been able to recover from that, this is his first brick. He said that he has seen rooted phones act like this, but those have always been recoverable as well.
So, LUCKILY I have the protection plan, they will have another phone coming to me soon, and no one said it would cost anything (which is good I don't pay for others failures) so the worst I am out is all my program settings, save games, and a lot of time setting my phone back up. Is Verizon really not going to replace bricked phones off this horrible update? If that is so, I am truly shocked. A company that does not stand by their own releases is rather scary.
I just got off phone with Verizon and then with Samsung. Looks like they are saying I need to go to a Best Buy and gte them to reload the software on my phone, free of charge was stated. I will see if I can go tonight and report back how it went.
This is a lot of work for something that went through a QA process.....
