Droid Razr Maxx HD - messaging not working and battery drain post-O/S update?

Hello - I have a droid razr maxx hd. Ever since the most recent operating system upgrade, I have had EXTREME problems with text messaging.  My messages either send multiple times, send up to a day late, or don't send at all.  Additionally, my device often does not receive texts - for example, yesterday my husband sent me about 20 texts, none of which I have received yet.  Also, my phone has been overheating and battery has been rapidly draining!  Ridiculous – I bought the Razr Maxx HD instead of an iPhone due to the battery life, and now I can’t even make it through a work day without a recharge!!!!

Sick of Verizon charging so much for crappy service – will be switching my family plan to a competitor in January 2015 when my jail sentence (I mean contract) is done

Oh no, this is not what we like to hear. I know I would be lost if my text messages were not working. I would be sad to see you leave Verizon Wireless after this issues you are having from the Software update from the manufacture. I want to make sure that everything is set up correctly on your phone.



Are you currently using the default messsaging application that is on the phone? Or are you using a 3rd party application from the Play Store (Hangouts, Go SMSPro Handcent)? With the battery not holding a charge can you please go into Settings, Battery, and let us know what the top 3 are for battery usages. Please keep me posted.
