Calls from this phone have been temporarily suspended. message.

I am traveling to Korea and I called before I left and was told that my phone would work in Korea, but the charges for calls would be $1.99/min and data would be 20/100kb. I was tols I could turn off the data and it would not effect the voice. I see a status on the phone (Roaming ... voice only roaming), but when I try to place any call I get the above voice message. It appears it is correctly configured and setup but it can't call. I tried to get into an online chat but because I am out of country it will not allow me to do that. Can anyone help with this?

my "guess" would be that while it is configured properly, there may be some security measure on your account that requires you to authorize the use at such a high international rate. can you buy a phone card for $5-10 and call verizon from another phone? again, i'm reaching here, but i could see them putting some kind of safeguard (besides clicking a box) in place to avoid a $500 bill after going overseas.

Turn out Verizon turn ed on family something and that was causing the problem. Turned it off and all is OK again.
