This is the THIRD TIME that I've had an OS update pushed to my phone that I didn't want....and this is the THIRD TIME it has broken my phone in the process.
So today, the Kitkat update got loaded to my phone...against my wishes. Of course, it did not load smoothly even though it tried to say it was successful. Immediately upon restarting, I got an error (android.process.acore) that would NOT go away. I search the net and found that it was a corruption of the sync of my contacts with an unknown & unnamed 3rd party app. After 2 hours of struggling with it, I managed to clear the data on the 'Backup contact storage' in the app manager. That stopped the acore error and allowed me access to the phone FINALLY.
But now my contacts are completely HOSED UP. I have duplicate records and partial records all over the place. No biggie....(or so I thought). I figured I would simply RESTORE the contacts from the Backup assistant Plus, right? I mean...that's what it's for, right??? Well...apparently I cannot find the Backup Assistant Plus on my phone anymore. I can see it in the app manager. I can also see that it had a successful sync on 7/16 (side...wth? 13 days since the last successful sync when my phone is left on all the time, day and night?). Yet, I have no options to RESTORE. There is a new 'Cloud' icon in my phone that has the same icon as the old Backup Assistant Plus, but when I open it and accept the T's & C's, it says it wants to do a backup. Well....wouldn't that be dumb to overwrite the good file (7/16) with a bad, hosed-up state (7/29)?
So VZW....please fix this or get me to the right individual at Samsung who will fix this!!! How does one restore their contacts after this Kitkat disaster has (once again) bombed my perfectly working phone? Do you realize how much time and effort I have WASTED today trying to fix this??? How much revenue do you think Verizon or Samsung would lose if someone shut their productivity down for a day?
