can't send email. keep being asked to "select sign key"

I am trying to send an e-mail from my phone and keep being asked to "select sign key".  Then it asks for a password.  I have never had this happen before.  Tried restarting the phone several times and no change.  Anyone else have this happen?

1. Open Security options in the mail application.
2. Check the check-box in the Sign option to Sign all outgoing email.  A green check-mark should appear in the check-box.
3. Press Done at the top to accept the changes.

The reverse is to uncheck the sign all outgoing mail which should be mentioned in your owners manual. I have no idea of your device.
