I have a Droid X on Page Plus prepaid--since I have Gmail backup, I don't need backup assistant. But my phone tries to backup every day and has an error each time. Can I uninstall the app somehow?
You can't uninstall, but you can disable the app.
I'm new to this forum--how do I disable the app?

I don't have the Droid X, but on most Android phones, you can go into your app manager, find the program, and use the options to disable it. (Either 3 dots somewhere on the screen will bring up Options, or long press the app and you will get options.)
Sync Service also needs to be disabled.
Advance Task Killer seems to have accomplished disable. Will see if it tries to sync again tonight. Thanks.

No, it's only related to Backup Assistant.
