Galaxy S5 Camera not Focusing

Has anyone else had issues with their camera suddenly not focusing? And I don't mean "it won't focus up close" I mean doesn't focus at all. When I tap the screen to select where to focus I just get a red circle. It doesn't do the adjust-in adjust-out focus sequence. It just sits there blurry. Would this be a warranty-able issue?

Sorry to read that the camera will not focus. Kinda makes it pointless to take a picture like that. What you have described may simply be an hiccup with the app. Let's see if we can get that camera to focus again. Reset the camera app: http://vz.to/1sBTIq4 . Then power the phone off and remove the battery for 30 seconds. Replace the battery and cover and power back on http://vz.to/1wfx2ig . Retest and let us know if that resolved the problem with your camera.

You had asked if the this issue would be covered under warranty. The device would come with a standard 1 year warranty. As long as it is within that time period and the phone has not been damaged, a failed camera would be a part of that coverage.

So far I have reset the camera app as you mentioned as well as doing a soft reset, clearing the app data and cache as well as wiping the cache partition while I was in an online chat with Samsung. None of those worked, the camera still doesn't even attempt to focus.

For a warranty issue do I just need to take it to a local Verizon store to get it replaced? I'm assuming the process is show them the issue, get a refurb phone sent to me, switch phones and send mine back? That's at least how my Razr Maxx was handled after the headphone jack malfunctioned multiple times.
