Text to Landline sent from my phone, I didn't send!

I was actually taking a nap the other day when my dad called and asked "what's a landline?" (He's 76 lol) He got a message saying he got a text to landline and he thought it was from me. I had no idea what he was talking about. I looked at my phone and yeah, there was a confirmation that a text to landline message was sent successfully. Then I found the message from me, to his phone, saying "I'm in class" which doesn't mean anything to either of us. How did this happen? What's the deal??? I had been asleep for 25 minutes at the time the text was sent so I didn't do anything to cause this.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android version 4.4.2

I did just recently get a "Device Software Modified" warning, which I'm still trying to resolve. Did I maybe get hacked? :smileysad:

This is a very strange thing that happened, but we'll help try to figure it out with you. Had you previously sent that same text to someone else? It is possible that some buttons were accidentally pressed while you were sleeping.

Nope, not possible. The phone was on my nightstand, completely out of reach. No one touched the phone for at least 25 minutes before that message was sent. Dad called and woke me up AFTER he got the message so it's impossible for any buttons to have been pressed.

IF i have ever sent that text to someone, it would have been well over a year ago and no longer in the phone's memory. Possibly not even from that phone. I would also never have attempted to text Dad since he has no idea how that works.
