Is it possible that a text message is showing up on my account online as a pic/video message? My child says that where I see a pic/video on the usage report it was actually just a long text that was came through as a MMS.
Yes, it is possible. I have seen this with long messages or messages with several emoticons.
MMS' on the usage report could be texts with attached photos or videos, or they could be group messages.
anything over 160 characters will show up as a mss picture message
